For The Past Month, I’ve Had A Breakout Of Small Pimples

Question

For the past month, I’ve had a breakout of small pimples in between my eyebrows and nothing I do seems to get rid of it. It started when I got back from a recent trip from Italy where my eating habbits were appalling, loaded with pastries and sugar. Would this have caused it and how long before my body gets rid of all the toxins and my skin clears up? I also went off the pill about 5 months ago. I have been extremely healthy for the past week, but nothing has changed. I’ve never had a problem with breakouts before. Should I see a dermatologist?

Answer

Thank-you very much for your enquiry. Your diet, stress and hormonal changes will all affect your skin. Also bear in mind you’ve just changed climates (travelling between two countries) as well, which will also affect your skin. I’m very glad you’ve chosen to sort out your diet and eating habits, but the fruits of your labour are only going to become evident in your skin after about a month. So please DO persevere with your healthy eating habits. I would need some more information from you, such as what products are you using and have you changed anything in your skin care routine in the last three months? I would say that if you are really concerned after the next three weeks, then make an appointment with an aesthetic doctor, such as one of the doctor’s at a Skin and Body Renewal, so that you can have the best advice in terms of diet, products and identifying any medical condtions.

Question

Hi Dr Maureen,

I’m in my mid 40s and generally have a very dry skin. I get small, hard white pimples around the area below the sides of my mouth. While I follow a good cleansing routine, they don’t ever really clear up. I’m concerned that there may be a hormonal cause as they do get worse certain times of the month. Any advice?
Thanks, Sunette

I am a 27-year-old Indian female. I suffer from really bad dark circles and milia around my eyes. I have fine lines and I feel that my under eye area is sagging. I have a lot of marks on my skin due to acne. I would like to know what products and procedures you would suggest.

Thank you

From Masoodah Ebrahim

Question

I’ve been suffering from acne my entire teen and tween years, at some point in my teens it got to a state whereby it was classified as severe acne and put on a very strong dosage of Roacuttane… thankfully it’s cleared with normal breakouts when it’s that time of the month. My main issue is I can never find a product that agrees with my skin or that actually clears up the oiliness and dry patches. Is there a skin care regiment that I can follow or a product that can help? PS: I’m exceptionally hairy as well and low threshold for pain.
