Question: Hope Mvaba

I’ve never used an acid on my face before because I grew up thinking chemical peels could scar your face. How would you suggest a newbie starts using acids? My main skincare issue is ageing.

Answer

Hi there.

Chemical peels, if done correctly, will definitely not cause any harm to your skin. Chemical peels help to remove any dead skin cells and in turn stimulate healthy, plump skin cells to surface. By doing a course of chemical peels, collagen production is increase and the ageing process are slowed down.

You can start with light fruit acid peels to introduce your skin to acids, these treatments can also be combined with laser and light therapies, which will increase collagen production. These treatments can be done once every 2 weeks to start with and then as maintenance, once every month.
