How can one minimize cellulite?

Thank you so much for your question. Honestly if I had a one line answer to this problem I’d probably be the richest woman alive!

Cellulite is one of those things that is caused by so many factors and really I don’t think it’s something that you’re just going to cure. It’s something you’re going to need to manage and prevent as much as possible. I feel there are 3 main parts to the management of this condition.

1) Your diet and your exercise. You need to follow a healthy eating plan, taking in lots of water and good wholesome foods that haven’t all come out of tin cans and polystyrene!

2) Your homecare routine. Getting enough sleep every day. Getting in enough water every day. Applying good products to the skin that look after the skin’s integrity and give the skin some good detoxifying actives. (EG Patricia Clarke Gel). Also take good vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants on a daily basis.

3) Professional treatment. If your budget allows, there are some amazing treatments that can help you to improve and to a great extent, treat and get rid of a lot of your cellulite (EG Radiofrequency treatments & Carboxy Therapy). You need to remember that we live in a time where everything is processed and polluted and full of toxins. So we are always going to have to battle the effects of all this junk we are bombarded with every day.

I have oily skin and get breakouts, but my main concern is my pores. They are fairly noticeable and I’m really not happy with them. Will regular facials help and what kind should I do?

Question from Lizelle Lloyd

Hi Dr Maureen,

I am a 31 yr old mother with very limited time for skincare routine. I have recently been diagnosed with scalp atopic dermattis and have been put on a course of antibiotics for a full month. Ive only had severe cases after all three of my pregnancies with my last one been 8 months ago. How can I prevent this from returning and what products would you recommend for my scalp-keep in mind I have very curly ethic hair making it very difficult to use some products as I need extra moisture and conditioner for my hair. I have also recently noticed a mild case of eczema on my breast-making breastfeeding quite challenging.

Please help :)

From Tshehlana Noge

Hi Dr Maureen, I have oily skin and in my 30s. I’m looking for a skincare treatment that will assist with clearing my skin and keep the oiliness at bay as well as serve as an anti aging. It doesn’t have to be in the same jar. I’m currently using Mineraline Time-it products for anti-aging, but it’s not doing anything for the oilyness and the random breakouts. Please could you advice.
