Question: I have giant pores, help!

I have really giant pores and people have commented on it a lot. I'm so self conscious about it. Is it possible to shrink them?

Answer

This is a problem that you have to address from a number of different angles I’m afraid. First things first: 1) You need to get the right treatments to help you deal with the and this treatment needs to be 2-fold. You need to do something that is going to unclog the pores (which is the reason for them stretching and remaining enlarged) – for this a simple series of chemical peels will do the trick nicely, then to refine the texture and appearance of the stretched pores, making them appear much smaller and less visible, you would need to consider options like laser genesis and/or Skin Needling. 2) You need to maintain your results by using the appropriate products at home. Something that makes sure the pores do not become clogged and enlarged again, something to keep the skin cell turn over at an optimum level, therefore continuing to refine the texture, so for this we need to incorporate the use of a retinoid at home, something like Lamelle’s RA cream or Dermaquest Retexturing serum. You also want to make sure you keep your skin well hydrated and protected from the sun, as sun damage will also lead to dilated pores, so the use of a good SPF such as the products in the Heliocare range is also advisable. If you need any more info on the treatments or products I’ve mentioned, you are most welcome to contact your nearest Skin Renewal Branch. You can find us at www.skinrenewal.co.za
