My Skin Is In Fairly Good Condition. I Have A Regular Beauty

Question

My skin is in fairly good condition. I have a regular beauty routine – cleanse, tone and moisturize. I have however previously had acne and been on Roaccutane for this. My skin is almost perfect now, however, I do sometimes get unruly spots, especially when I am menstruating. Is there any way to prevent bad skin at these times? Also, my skin scars extremely easy (this is the main reason I wear foundation). Is there something I can use to lighten the dark marks?

Answer

Thanks so much for your enquiry. There is quite a bit you can do to help you deal with these problems you are experiencing. I’m glad you are on a good skin care routine, but what you are lacking is the VERY important step of applying a good sunblock after moisturizing. For someone with the problems you’re experiencing this is absolutely vital! You must apply a good SPF daily come rain or shine. This will prevent dark marks from forming in the first place. Also, to get your breakouts under control, I would highly recommend that you consider using Lamelle’s Acnevelle tablets, as these are very effective in getting that skin balanced out. As far as your scarring and the dark marks that are already there, I would really like us to have a look at you as there are a number of options that we can consider to help you improve these. We would most likely put a package together for you that would include chemical peeling, some laser and depending on how severe your scars are, we could also consider dermaroller or some Pearl laser. Are you close enough to any of our Skin Renewal Branches to get to see one of our Medical Aesthetic Doctors? I’d really love to be able to help you get the best results you possibly can with the right treatments and products. Please let me know if there is any other way I can help or advise you?

I have oily skin and get breakouts, but my main concern is my pores. They are fairly noticeable and I’m really not happy with them. Will regular facials help and what kind should I do?

Question from Lizelle Lloyd

Question

Hi Dr Maureen,

I am a 31 yr old mother with very limited time for skincare routine. I have recently been diagnosed with scalp atopic dermattis and have been put on a course of antibiotics for a full month. Ive only had severe cases after all three of my pregnancies with my last one been 8 months ago. How can I prevent this from returning and what products would you recommend for my scalp-keep in mind I have very curly ethic hair making it very difficult to use some products as I need extra moisture and conditioner for my hair. I have also recently noticed a mild case of eczema on my breast-making breastfeeding quite challenging.

Please help :)

From Tshehlana Noge

Question

Hi Dr Maureen, I have oily skin and in my 30s. I’m looking for a skincare treatment that will assist with clearing my skin and keep the oiliness at bay as well as serve as an anti aging. It doesn’t have to be in the same jar. I’m currently using Mineraline Time-it products for anti-aging, but it’s not doing anything for the oilyness and the random breakouts. Please could you advice.
