We may only be three months into the year, but already we’re seeing a major influx of stunning scents. We’ve rounded up a few of the best new fragrance launches for 2017. Some floral, some fresh and some a bit unusual, these scents are all beautiful.
Signorina Misteriosa Salvatore Ferragamo
30ml Eau de Parfum Spray R810, 50ml Eau de Parfum Spray R1 200, 100ml Eau de Parfum Spray R1 730
We’ve always loved the Signorina range: the original romantic Signorina from 2011, its Eau de Toilette version from 2012 and the seductive Signorina Eleganza version from 2014. So we were very excited to hear about their new addition, Signorina Misteriosa, which completes the collection with a different character that is more cheeky yet elegant, unpredictably mysterious, and ultimately all about ‘life as a play’. It’s a daring fragrance for the young woman who dictates the rules of her life. Her world is a stage and for those frustrated with her unpredictability, well they’ll just have to deal. So it’s an unexpected and playful scent with notes of wild blackberry, neroli and orange blossom, but it’s the opulent sensuality of tuberose, which stands out casting a subtly seductive spell. Perfect for nights out with your girlfriends in black dresses and smokey eyes for cocktails, dinner and a gossip. The luxe packaging of the bottle – black, rose gold and sporting the classic Vara Bow – will make you want to display this on your dresser long after you’ve used the last drop.
50ml Eau de Parfum Spray R1 600, 100ml Eau de Parfum Spray R2 400
We first got all gushy about the collab between the French beauty brand Guerlain and Angelina Jolie in early January. Finally, the hotly-anticipated fragrance from master perfumer Thierry Wasser is here. Mon Guerlain is inspired by the choices, emotions and dreams that embody modern femininity, and it boasts house favourite notes of lavender and vanilla. It also pays homage to many of the Guerlain classics, with its vanilla serving as a nod to Shalimar, the lavender a note from the past of 1889’s Jicky, and its fruitier aspects are a coquettish nod to La Petite Robe Noire. The packaging is simple and elegant and Mon Guerlain is destined to be a classic.
To celebrate, Guerlain and Jolie teamed up with iconic director Terrence Malick for a minute-long video that captures the story behind the perfume. Watch the breathtaking short movie, titled “Notes of a Woman,” below and take a romp through the lavender with Angie.
Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Limited Edition
50ml Eau de Toilette Spray R1 205
The iconic perfume Flora by Gucci first launched in 2009 and was inspired by the floral pattern of the scarf designed by Vittorio Accomero, which was specially made by Gucci for Princess Grace of Monaco in 1966. This April the new Flora Gardenia Limited Edition scent will join the family for a bit. We were lucky enough to get a sneak preview of the royal-esque perfume. Intensely feminine, the scent’s notes of red berries and white gardenia at the heart, combined with patchouli and brown sugar at the base, makes a contemporary statement of elegance and beauty. We love that the perfume almost glistens with a radiant pop of pink, packaged in pure elegance with the vibrant print.
UOMO Salvatore Ferragamo
50ml Eau de Toilette Spray R1 000, 100ml Eau de Toilette Spray R1 380
Inspired by the Italian way of life, this is a charismatic oriental woody creation that leaves a lasting impression, just like the man who wears it. It starts with a fresh and cool opening, infused with an irreverent sense of charm using unexpected ingredients of black pepper, cardamom and bergamot. The heart of the fragrance is unexpectedly built around an iconic and classically Italian dessert, the Tiramisu. Although most men wouldn’t want to walk around smelling like pudding – even an Italian one – when combined with orange blossom and Ambrox, it perfectly represents the duality of Italian men: strong, confident and roguish, yet seductive and sweet. The flacon is pretty eye-catching too, as is the face of the scent, actor Ben Barnes. What is the scent of life for him? “You immediately know when you’re trying on the right one: you put it on, and it smells like you, it feels like you,” says Ben.
75ml Eau de Toilette Spray R845, 120ml Eau de Toilette Spray R1 155
If you’re trailblazer who lives their dreams, you may want to invest in this little number. HUGO ICED opens with bracing top notes of invigorating iced mint, a heart of potent and exotic wild tea, juniper and bitter orange – a powerful mixture that sounds so delish we wouldn’t mind drinking it. But we digress – it smells divine too. Housed in a metallic version of the signature flask-shaped bottle, ICED makes you feel like bounding out the house to experience the new day. It lasts very well and doesn’t fade when the heat is on.
