Fragrance notes: floral

Friday, 12 July 2013

By far the most common and popular of all fragrances, florals are loved by both older and younger women. Florals can consist of a single note or a complex bouquet of different flowers.

Simpler than some of the other fragrance families, florals are mostly made up of notes from different flowers, but form part of all the other families too. You will seldom come across a scent that does not have at least one floral note.

Floral fragrances

Because of this, the variety in scents is incredibly large. They can be soft, strong, sweet or spicy – it just depends on the other notes added to them. Some of the most common floral notes include rose, jasmine, patchouli and lily. Whatever your type of floral, one thing is certain – this is by far the most feminine of the fragrance families!

Here, a few of our favourite floral fragrances:

1. Issey Miyake L’eau D’Issey EDP 50ml, R995

2. Elie Saab Le Parfum EDP 50ml, R795

3. Marc Jacobs Daisy EDT 50ml, R840

4. Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater EDT 100ml, R700

I love floral fragrances with rose notes that is not too overpowering and cloyingly sweet. These look awesome! Issey Miyake is great, but smell better on my friend.

I wouldn’t normally go for a floral perfume – but Issey Miyake I find quite sensual too!

Daisy by Marc Jacobs is a stunner of a fragrance! The floral notes aren’t as overpowering as some others that would fall into this category. It’s quite pricy for only a 50ml, but it is worth the splurge.

The Marc Jacobs bottle is cute but i am interested to smell the Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater. I love the smell of floral scents as long as it is not too sweet, that gives me a headache.
