If you’re crazy about classic Giorgio Armani fragrances like Acqua di Gio, or have been impressed by their newer scents like the fresh-smelling Acqua di Gioa, you might want to know about their exclusive Armani Prive collection. (It’s been speculated that Charlene Wittsock, who wore an Armani Prive wedding gown, also wore an Armani Prive fragrance when she tied the knot…)
The Prive collection is divided into three catagories: fresh and clean-smelling Les Eaux; La Collection which is inspired by precious stones like amber and jade; and the ultra-luxurious Collection Mille et Une Nuits. This is the range that includes Oud Royal, a decadent mix of amber, spice and myrrh. You’d think this would be the scent Giorgio Armani would deem fit for a princess, but the word on the street is that Charlene wore the very newest addition to the Prive line-up, La Femme Bleue.
Despite having the word Femme in the title, Giorgio Armani is quick to stress that this is a unisex scent. It was inspired by a Armani’s Prive Spring 2011 fashion collection that was in turn inspired by the nomadic women of the desert and used a lot of blue. Armani describes the scent as ‘a perfume for a person in love with blue, it’s shadows, it’s depth. It’s notes include black iris, a hint of chocolate and iris. ‘The instant the stopper is removed, the bottle breaths forth a mysterious and carnal sensation; the recollection of a journey yet to be made, the memory of a moment yet to be lived’, says Armani.
If you want to get your mitts on the scent, you might end up struggling. Only 1000 numbered bottles were created and they’re selling out fast. To make things even more difficult, it’s not available on South African shores, so you’ll have to keep an eye out for it when you hit up selected department stores overseas.
Another Armani scent that’s a bit more accessible is Armani Code Sport.
The TV commercial features a semi-naked Megan Fox who waits poolside for her Armani man, male model Chris Folz, to finish taking a dip before they get cosy in a towel.
(Just so you know, despite being an Armani spokesmodel, Megan doesn’t actually wear Armani fragrances. Her favourite perfume is Cartier’s Must de Cartier. Take a peek at the list of real celebrity scents and the scents they REALLY love).
As for the scent itself, its a aromatic woody scent that’s invigorated with zing lemon, mandarin and three different types of mint. All this rests on a base of gray amber, ginger and vetiver. Armani reckons it ‘radiates freshness, excitement, adrenaline and seduction’.
