Beauty Network members review their free hair treatments

We sent two of our lucky readers to go and experience a hair treatment at Style Bar in Tygervalley. Here is what they thought:

“I had the amazing privilege of going for a treatment at one of the new Style Bar Hair Salons last week, courtesy of BeautySouthAfrica. Now – I am almost ashamed to confess it out loud – but before last week it had been 7 months since my last colour… and A YEAR since my last cut….

Aaaahrgh!! Scandalous! But with my busy schedule this past year just raced by in the blink of an eye – and I kept postponing my visit to the hair salon, not realizing that it has been that long! So naturally when I arrived at Style Bar, the stylist was eager to jump in and perform the much needed repair work.

A very friendly and enthusiastic Denise was booked to be my stylist for the day, and she was assisted by Dina, who was just as friendly and helpful.

Before we started, Denise did a consultation with me to see what we would be doing with my hair. She recommended a colour that I immediately loved, and this colour also turned out to be just perfect on me! She also listened to my concerns and needs for the cut, which was great.

So after the course of action was decided, the ladies applied my colour from the Schwarzkopf range, topped up my tea for me while I waited for the colour to do its thing, and checked in on me regularly to see if everything was still fine.

I hit another little stroke of luck on the day, as they had the Redken reps in store at the time of my treatment, so Dina got to use the best of their products to wash treat and condition my hair when the time came to wash off the colour. And while doing this, Dina was also giving me advice on how best to keep my colour, the differences between – and also how to use – a hair treatment and a hair mask.

Denise blow-dried my hair to give the roots some lift, and followed with a flat iron. This was all done before my cut, as Denise preferred to “dry-cut” my hair, which was something completely new for me, and I was excited to see how it would turn out.

The hair cut turned out beautifully, with light and “movable” layers. She achieved exactly what I wanted, by removing some of the “bulk” that had weighed me down over the last year, but still keeping most of my length.

The salon had a very relaxed atmosphere, with extremely friendly and accommodating staff, and the décor in the salon was really beautiful!

“I was super stoked to have received a notification that I was one of a few ladies chosen to enjoy a Style Bar hair treatment. Style Bar Tygervalley’s look is posh and simplistic in black and white.

From the moment I stepped in I was greeted by the friendly receptionist who immediately helped me to an open chair. Gary, my hairstylist for the evening, (ex builder, yes you read right, he was a builder just 10 years ago!) ran me through my treatment plan and Chantelle gave me the most amazing shampoo and head massage EVER!

The treatment they used on my highlighted hair is from the new Schwarzkopf Professional range called Bonacure Hairtherapy Cell Perfector. I had the Power Shot Repair Concentrate Treatment for damaged hair. As my hair gets highlighted every three months, it was in dire need of some TLC. And the best of all was that they only used about 5ml of the treatment mixed with conditioner and I could take the other 5ml home. After relaxing for about 5 to 10 minutes with my hot towel and treatment, Chantelle took me to my seat where Gary gave the most incredible customer service ever.

He made me feel at home, giving me some expert advice in styling my hair and how to do a lovely beach tousled curl look! I must say, the treatment left my hair feeling soft, treated, manageable and smelling divine! I would really recommend Style Bar Tygervalley to anyone I know.
