If you’re into fashion, you’ll know who Christian Louboutin is; a French footwear who’s designs are lusted after by stars like Blake Lively, Rihanna and Beyonce. Since 1992, his designs have incorporated shiny, red-lacquered soles that have become his signature.
The Louboutin Mani is inspired by those stylish soles, creating the same effect for your fingernails and instantly giving you designer paws. Louboutin shoes never fail to captivate eyes after that first quick flash of racy red, and this mani is sure to create the same effect.
First up, know that there are two ways to do it; the first is to apply the red to the underside of the nail and the second is to apply the red to the tip of the nail.
Red underside (this suits very long nails)
Apply a base coat to the top of your nails. This prevents the black polish from staining your nails.
Paint the underside with a bright red, A thinner polish brush will make this easier and less messy however if you don’t have a thin brush then have nail polish remover and an ear bud handy to tidy up any mess. You may need to do two coats of red in order for the red to be very noticeable.
Once the red polish is dry then you can apply black polish to your nail as you normally would.
Finish up with a glossy top coat.
Apply a base coat.
Once dry, paint your nails black.
Apply French manicure strips to separate the tips of your nails from the nail beds, just as you would if you were going to create a French tip.
Use red polish to colour in the tips. You may need to do more than one coat of red to stand out over the black.
Apply a glossy top coat.
Whichever look you decide to try, know that you’ll end up with a stylish, striking effect that won’t cost nearly as much as the actual shoes.
