The nape of the neck
The real focus of hair for 2013 will be the nape of the neck: ponytails, chignons and buns will all be gathered low on the head and accessories will draw the eyes there. It’s all happening in the vulnerable, deeply sexy nape of the neck.
We’re still with the sixties retro look it seems. The beehive was seen in all four fashion capitals at the recent Fashion Weeks, with side-partings and teasing on the crown providing a slightly subtler take on the look for those who don’t want to go all Amy on us.
The humble ponytail is back, thank goodness. Tie it low, at the nape of the neck for a no-fuss on-trend look that is so easy and so sexy.
Long sweeping fringes are going to be huge. Wear yours long enough to tuck untidily behind one ear for a girly, pretty look.
Accessories can take any outfit from average to sensational – and the same holds true for hair accessories. Whether you wear a sporty neon headband, pearls in your low-slung bun, or a flower in your low pony, it’s your opportunity to wear statement hair. Our favourite though, has to be the printed scarves that were spotted at the Dolce & Gabbana and Marc Jacobs’ shows.
There is something so appealing about braids – so easy to do and so versatile! This season, look to criss-crossed braids – simply make a couple or more thin braids and loop them across your head to add interest to long hair. Add an accessory or two for a double whammy.
The Farrah flick
The ever-popular Kate Middleton has updated her do with a flick a la Farrah Fawcett so be ready because where Katie goes, the world follows!
