What do pale, barely there shades, bold graphics and shiny metallics have in common? They’re all part of the gorgeous and fresh spring 2011 nail polish trend.
Take note of neutrals
Super pale, barely there shades like nude and baby pink are big news. Just make sure the shades you pick are glossy to avoid looking like you have mannequin hands. Essie’s spring collection, A French Affair, has a great range of pale shades to pick from.
Brave, ‘out there’ patterns and prints are also a hot trend, so go for fun and unusual nails graphics. To get the look, take a look at fun, easy-to-use nail wraps, a great way to get the look without having to get messy with nail art pens. (We’re quite fond of Incoco Nail Wraps as you can use them yourself at home…)
Make room for metallics
Shiny shades like gold and silver are your friend this spring. A metallic nail wrap like Minx will provide the best super-shiny finish. BeautySouthAfrica’s very own editor got all Minxed in gold and it looked fab!
Love that lilac
Ditch winter’s deep purple and instead opt for a fresh, pretty lilac. Revlon’s brought out a new collection of Top Speed nail enamels include most of spring’s hottest hues, most notably a creamy lilac shade called Lily.
If you don’t already have a shade of yellow then you should invest in one as this trend is probably going to run right through until the end of summer. We like O.P.I. Nail Lacquer in Banana Bandanna.
Into the blue
Unusual, but oh so stylish, turquoise, acid and egg shell blue are also going to be a big hits as the weather starts heating up.
So tell us, which shades are YOU going to be rocking this spring?
