Since 1993, Motions has been creating innovative salon-quality hair products for women with ethnic hair. We got sent a couple of them to put to the test, so I handed them over to Linda Mali, an editor who works at my office.
Of the products Linda used, she was most impressed with Motions 3-in-1 Scalp Treatment, R31,99, which she used in place of her conditioner. It’s a light blend of soothing aloe vera, cooling menthol and conditioning natural oils like coconut and safflower to help hydrate and soothe your scalp. ‘I suffer from dandruff and it really helped keep it under control by moisturising my scalp’, she says.
Another product Linda liked? Motions 3-in-1 oil Oil Spray, R35,99. It makes use of moisturising oils like sunflower and soybean oil and promises to add lustrous-looking shine to dull or damaged hair. If you’ve got natural hair, give it a shampoo and spray it directly onto it while it’s still damp to act as a mega-moisturising conditioning treatment. However, if you’ve got a weave, Linda suggests you rather spray it onto your scalp. ‘This way, your body heat helps to spread the oil to hard to reach places between your weave tracks’, she says, adding that you shouldn’t spray it directly onto your weave as it’ll cause it to ‘stick together and look lifeless’.
