Spring wedding hair trends

Spring wedding trendsThese days, brides have become braver in their approach to hair and make-up choices making this season’s trends easy to follow. The start of spring welcomes soft feminine colours, the return of old, faithful hair styles and colours of rich gold’s and sweet pinks.

The top three hair trends taking over the bridal scene are:

Beach waves or curls

It’s a soft romantic hairstyle with cascading curls flowing down the side of the bride’s face, set in soft natural make-up. The look is meant to give one the illusion, of frolicking along the beach on a sunny day with the wind in your hair. It’s a youthful change to the once Victorian curl made popular in the 90’s. To obtain this look, hair should not be too structured and volume should be left at the roots. Be careful not to overload on the hair spray and rather opt for a shine spray to give hair a natural and healthy glow.

The side bun

This trend-setting style can be worn sleek, highly textured or with lots of volume. This particular Spanish-inspired style has been remixed over and over from the runways of top designers to Hollywood’s red carpet. Accessories play a big role in completing the look where you can use flowers, jewelled clips or fascinators instead of the traditional veil. The placement of the bun depends on the length of your neck and your choice of accessories. This style photographs very well and is fairly easy to assemble. You can scrape up loose curls to give a romantic look or create a strong structured bun for an avant-garde finish. The team at Spoilt Hair & Beauty says: ‘You need to be sure that if your hair is short, that your stylist secures it enough to take you through your first dance!’

Fingerwaves

This style was once popular in the 1920’s when the Flapper and Jazz age took over fashion. It was created by scrunching sections between the fingers and securing with a thick lotion to give the look of waves in the hair. These days the same look is created with curling wards and curling irons, making it easier to maintain on your big day as well as using less product and less effort. It allows brides to add extra jewellery to their outfits and play around with heavier make-up, namely smoky eyes or bright lips. Over all don’t be afraid to play around. This look is definitely the most fun.

MAKE-UP TIPS:

Eyes
Gold’s, nudes and earthy tones are following suit and preparing the eyes for that ‘forever young’ look.

Lips
They can match your cheek colour, stand out against softer features or be completely nude and glossy against smoky eyes. This season is about fun and lips are no exception.

Cheeks
Peach, natural pinks and soft glowing bronzers make up the rest of the classics for this season. Be careful not to overdo it with your bronzer as your skin will end up looking shiny and oily.

*Always opt for timeless over trendy. Think of your photos 10 years from now and imagine yourself in a classic setting that you can relate to and be comfortable with.

*Book your appointments for trials to avoid disappointments or surprises on the day and discuss all your options with your stylist and makeup artist no matter how small or silly it may seem.

Remember that it’s your big day and how you look should be based on your happiness and levels of comfort.

I also love the beach waves/curls! I just wish I could re-create them as beautiful as in this pic. My curls always turn out either too tight or too loose :(
