A couple of years ago you may have been weary of hair extensions – after all, the ones being advertised on television and in magazines were often ill-fitted and the colour didn’t match just right. Luckily for us, those days are long gone! We were lucky enough to try out Clipinhair – South Africa’s number one choice for high-quality, affordable cuticle correct Indian clip in hair extensions.
Clipinhair Extensions are so easy to use, and after a short lesson, we were more than comfortable fitting them, and removing them ourselves. Here’s what the girls thought about the product:
How do you find the quality of the extensions and the blend it has with your own hair?
I absolutely loved the clip-in’s. They were the exact same colour and texture as my weave and you couldn’t actually tell the difference. I love that they had a wavy option for me as my weave was wavy but if I wanted straight hair I could straighten my weave and the clip-in’s together and it looks like one weave. – Chido
I found the quality to be absolutely amazing – once clipped in the extensions blended perfectly with my natural hair colour. The extensions also looked exceptionally real – and even felt real too! – Cherise
The quality is phenomenal, it feels as if it is my own hair and it blends in quite nicely with my hair, you can’t notice that I have extensions clipped in, it looks very original. – Sam
Are they comfortable and secure?
I wore my clip-in’s quite a lot and not once did I ever worry about them falling out, they even managed to stay in against the Cape Town wind! They were however slightly uncomfortable after a long day of wearing them and probably because I had to clip them into my weave tracks so towards the end of a day of wearing them I could really feel the tension of wearing them. But other than that they were very comfortable and secure. – Chido
The clips are evenly spaced and secure enough to ensure that the extensions are very secure. They are quite comfortable and didn’t feel as heavy as I thought they would. – Cherise
They are very secure and comfortable. The first day I had a bit of a headache but as it was my first time, it was to be expected. Since then it has been very comfortable. – Sam
Was it easy to care for?
YES! It was very easy for me as I have been wearing weaves for years so taking care of extensions was no extra work at all and I loved the handy hanger they came with. The hanger made them easy to store overnight and I could braid them on the hanger to get extra curls. – Chido
The extensions were very easy to care for – because it’s natural hair, I found I did have to straighten them a fair amount – but I did this along with straightening my own hair, so it wasn’t any extra effort. I did find that I didn’t need to wash them so haven’t tried that as of yet. – Cherise
Super easy to care for, it’s like removing your hair off your head and washing it in the basin. it dries easily and styles easily too. – Sam
Did you experiment with different styles and were they easy to do?
My favourite thing to do was a side plait and also putting on the fringe under my hat for different looks. I mostly wore the extensions down and wavy as they looked gorgeous like that. – Chido
I went to a wedding 2 weeks ago and decided to try a side plait. I found it tricky at first to manoeuvre my hair around in such a way that the clips weren’t showing little lumps. However, once I figured out how to ensure that this didn’t happen – the plait looked amazing and stayed secure the whole night. People were commenting on how thick my hair looked and how long it had gotten. – Cherise
I haven’t tried many styles as I am a “straight look” kind of girl, but I have tried the bang and a side plait. – Sam
How soon after receiving them did you learn the hack of clipping them in?
It took me two tries to get a hang of putting them in without any issues. – Chido
It took me about four tries until I felt confident enough to just clip them in and go. – Cherise
After using it twice to different events, one being a day out with the girls, and the other to a wedding, I got the hack of it quite easily. – Sam
