Winter nail colours

Wednesday, 18 July 2012

Winter nail colours! It’s cold, so naturally we’ve all hibernating i.e. we have more time on our hands. And with all this time on them, why not pamper them by playing around with this season’s hottest nail polish colours.

Tip: Keep nails short, filed and sophisticated.

Reds to vixens

Add a splash of ruby red or a darker shade of vixen even. You can never go wrong with red-hot nails.
Try: Essie in Size Matters, R99.95, Mavala in Rococo Red, R59.95, Yardley in Romantic Ruby, R54.95, Ciate in Mistress, R95 or Catrice in Bloody Mary To Go, R34.95.

Blues to navy

Be daring this winter, add some blue hues to your nails.
Try: Yardley in Anchor Blue, R54.95, Mavala in Denim Blue, R59.95, Essie’s Bobbing For Baubles, R99.95, Ciate in Headliner, R95 or Catrice’s Pool Party at Night, R34.95.

Greys to lilacs

You might think these colours are rather dull, but when it comes to nails they’re not!
Try: Essie in Cocktail Bling, R99.95, Zoya’s Carey, R140, Essie in Bangle Jungle, R99.95, Catrice in London’s Weather Forecast, R34.95, Zoya’s Megan, R140 and Sally Hansen’s Dorien Grey, R89.95.

Metallic mania

Fall in love with metallic colours and watch your nails come to life.
Try: Essie in Jamaicamecrazy, R99.95, Ciate in Gold Digga, R95, Essie in Dive Bar, R99.95 or Catrice in Genius in a Bottle, R34.95.

I’m not a big fan of winter nail colours so stick to the nudes and more neutral colours. I love summer nail colours! They are always so bright and happy.
