Alcoholic drinks are one of the major culprits when it comes to gaining weight during the holiday season. Many of them are filled with unhealthy ingredients like artificial colourants and flavourants, and the majority of them are high in calories and sugar. We asked fitness expert Lisa Raleigh for some healthy cocktail recipes that you can try this festive season. Try one of these delicious drinks for a healthy alternative to your usual cider or cooler.
3 cups of ice
200 grams frozen strawberries
⅛ cup lime juice, freshly squeezed
¼ cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed
¾ cup vodka
½ cup ice water
Blend all ingredients together and serve.
Watermelon and ginger splasher
3 cups watermelon, diced
½ cup gin
5 tbsp lime juice, freshly squeezed
1 tsp ginger, peeled and grated
1 tsp xylitol
1 cup ice water
Blend ingredients together, pour over ice and serve.
Naughty iced tea
1 litre herbal tea of your choice
2 tbsp xylitol
¼ cup vodka
lemon wedges for serving
Prepare your herbal tea with xylitol beforehand, refrigerating until cool. Add vodka, garnish with lemon wedges and serve with plenty of ice.
Kissed by a rose
1 cup apple juice
½ cup cranberry juice
2 tbsp rose cordial
1 tbsp fresh mint
¼ cup tequila
2 cups ice
Blend together, garnish with fresh mint and enjoy.
