Healthy smoothiesTry one of these delicious, healthy smoothie recipes for a yummy breakfast or filling snack.

Breakfast smoothie

Ingredients:
1 sliced banana
125ml vanilla yoghurt
1/2 cup original / banana Futurelife
1 t honey
1/2 cup crunchy muesli
1 t almonds

Method:
Blend all ingredients together until at desired consistency, and drink your breakfast!

Coffee and cashew smoothie

Ingredients:
1/4 cup cashews, soaked six hours or overnight
1/2 banana, peeled and chopped (frozen optional)
1 T cocoa nibs / 1 t raw cocoa powder 
1/2 cup ice
1/4 cup cooled coffee
1 cup calcium fortified soy milk
1/2 T honey / Xylitol (optional)

Method:
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Banana berry glaze

Ingredients:
3 T banana Futurelife
4 chopped strawberries
100g (1 small tub) smooth vanilla or strawberry yoghurt
1 t cinnamon
100ml water
3 ice cubes

Method:
Blend until smooth.

Green tea and blueberry smoothie

Ingredients:
3 T water
1 green tea bag
2 t honey
1 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 medium banana
3/4 cup calcium fortified light vanilla soy milk

Method:
Steep the tea bag in the water, adding the honey and allowing the tea to brew.
In a powerful blender, combine the berries, banana, and milk. Add tea to the mix and until smooth and serve.

Raw cocoa choc smoothie (serves 4)

Ingredients:
1 cup raw cashews or almonds, soaked for 3-5 hours
7 small dates or 3 large Medjool dates
3 tablespoons raw cocoa powder
4 frozen bananas (slice into small pieces before freezing)
1.5 cups low fat milk
8 blocks of ice

Method:
Blend ingredients together until mixture resembles ice cream. Add extra milk to change consistency according to preference. *Raw cocoa powder is one of the richest sources of antioxidants worldwide. Enjoying this powder raw means the nutritional value is not compromised.

    I love making smoothies. I usually make fruit based ones and chuck in a few pieces of spinach or broccoli, it doesn’t affect the taste of it at all and makes it an easy way to get in your greens, literally.
