Get the Look: Kate Bosworth

Kate BosworthKate Bosworth has mastered the art of looking effortlessly cool, both on the red carpet and when rocking it out at Coachella. Get Kate’s perfect loose waves, smouldering eye and subtle lip with these easy steps:

Hair:
Kate’s tousled hair brings her whole look together and perfectly complements her subtle make-up. Before blow-drying your hair, apply a volume mousse such as Tresemme Volume & Lift, R71.99, to give your hair additional height. Once your hair is dry spray it with a heat protector like Tresemme Iron Style & Hold Spray, R71.99, and loosely curl your hair. Brush it to remove any ‘ringlet’ curls and spray it with a setting hair spray like Lee Stafford Hold Tight, R94.99. It is important to remember that your hair should not be too curly, but should have a subtle curl instead.

Complexion:
With a toned-down make-up look is it vital that your complexion is flawless. Prep your skin with a primer such as Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Foundation Primer, R370, to moisturise the skin and create a perfect canvas for your foundation. When selecting a foundation, ensure that it will give you medium to full coverage. MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation, R330, is a great option as it diminishes the appearance of fine lines and gives the skin a luminous glow. Apply a lightweight concealer such as Stila Brighten and Correct Concealer, R255, to the areas that require extra coverage (under the eyes, around the nose & any imperfections / spots). A touch of blush on the apples of the cheeks will complete the look. Try The Body Shop Brush on Radiance, R180, for a subtle glow.

Eyes:
Groom your brows with an eyebrow pencil such as Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil, R74.95, and set them in place with a brow gel like The Body Shop Brow & Lash Gel, R110. To recreate Kate’s subtle smokey eye apply a light neutral shade of eye shadow on the entire eye, then apply a medium brown shimmery shadow to the eyelid and blend it into the crease. Yves Rocher Duo Eyeshadow in Tournesol Et Cannelle, R140, offers both shades in one convenient compact. To add extra volume to your lashes, apply subtle false lashes like Katy Perry Sweetie Pie, R79.95. Line the top and bottom lash line with brown eye liner such as Inglot Soft Precision (shade 21), R139, and complete the look with a few strokes of your favourite mascara – we love Clinique High Impact Mascara, R200.

Lips:

To complement your smouldering eye shadow, select a shade of lipstick that is darker than your natural lip colour but a lighter hue than your eye shadow. Try Estée Lauder Pure Colour Long Lasting Lipstick in Tiger Eye, R265, for subtle long-lasting colour. Remember to line your lips with a good quality lip liner to ensure that your lipstick is precise and does not bleed into fine lines.
