To many, Kim Kardashian is an all-round beauty. A curvaceous body, luscious locks and extra long eyelashes have secured her a spot in beauty and fashion magazines for years to come. Despite her hair getting most of the editorial attention, we’re loving her plump lips. No matter what their colour, they always look soft, hydrated and healthy. Here, our top tips on getting beautiful, moisturised lips, à la Kim.
Drinking enough water will ensure your body stays hydrated, and this includes your lips. Stick to between six and eight glasses per day for maximum hydration.
It’s not just your face and body that needs regular exfoliation – lips get dry and flaky too! Make your own scrub with brown sugar and olive oil, and gently work it onto the lips in circular movements. Rinse off and moisturise to reveal beautifully hydrated lips.
The most noticeable part of Kim’s lips are their texture, and a soft and supple pout like hers requires regular moisturisation. Use a nourishing lip balm or jelly as often as needed to keep your lips plump and kissable. We love Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Nourishing Lip Balm SPF 20.
The skin on our lips is extremely thin, and very susceptible to sun damage. Be sure to apply a lip product that contains an SPF before you head outdoors to avoid dehydration, burning and sun blisters.
Choose your colour
Kim rocks almost any shade of lipstick, from the palest nude to the brightest red. The key lies in finding shades that suit your skin tone and hair colour. Play around with different colours until you find the ones best suited to you.
Draw the line
Kim’s lip colour never bleeds, and with good reason. Her make-up artists line her lips with a lip liner and then fills them with a matching shade of lipstick. To make your colour last longer, you can colour your lips with the liner, and then apply lipstick on top of it.
Kim looks beautiful with both matte and glossy lips. If you’re going matte, be extra vigilant with your lip moisturiser, as the matte formulation tends to dry the lips. A fan of gloss? You can apply a clear gloss over your lipstick for when you’re feeling daring.
