Kim Kardashian lips

To many, Kim Kardashian is an all-round beauty. A curvaceous body, luscious locks and extra long eyelashes have secured her a spot in beauty and fashion magazines for years to come. Despite her hair getting most of the editorial attention, we’re loving her plump lips. No matter what their colour, they always look soft, hydrated and healthy. Here, our top tips on getting beautiful, moisturised lips, à la Kim.

Stay hydrated
Drinking enough water will ensure your body stays hydrated, and this includes your lips. Stick to between six and eight glasses per day for maximum hydration.

Exfoliate
It’s not just your face and body that needs regular exfoliation – lips get dry and flaky too! Make your own scrub with brown sugar and olive oil, and gently work it onto the lips in circular movements. Rinse off and moisturise to reveal beautifully hydrated lips.

Nourish
The most noticeable part of Kim’s lips are their texture, and a soft and supple pout like hers requires regular moisturisation. Use a nourishing lip balm or jelly as often as needed to keep your lips plump and kissable. We love Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Nourishing Lip Balm SPF 20.

Sun protect
The skin on our lips is extremely thin, and very susceptible to sun damage. Be sure to apply a lip product that contains an SPF before you head outdoors to avoid dehydration, burning and sun blisters.

Choose your colour
Kim rocks almost any shade of lipstick, from the palest nude to the brightest red. The key lies in finding shades that suit your skin tone and hair colour. Play around with different colours until you find the ones best suited to you.

Draw the line
Kim’s lip colour never bleeds, and with good reason. Her make-up artists line her lips with a lip liner and then fills them with a matching shade of lipstick. To make your colour last longer, you can colour your lips with the liner, and then apply lipstick on top of it.

Glossy finish
Kim looks beautiful with both matte and glossy lips. If you’re going matte, be extra vigilant with your lip moisturiser, as the matte formulation tends to dry the lips. A fan of gloss? You can apply a clear gloss over your lipstick for when you’re feeling daring.

I love fuller lips, tip I can give you is to brush your lips with a tooth brush, but on some concealer, over line your lips and put on a nice matte lipstick.

I just love the matte red lip. You definitely need moisturized, flake-free lips to pull off that look! There’s a great Bubblegum flavoured lip scrub at LUSH stores. It’s a bit expensive, but definitely lasts long. The fact that you get to eat it off afterwards, is just an added bonus!

I actually only like the first red look on the top left. The nude lip on the bottom right is way too glossy and heavy for me.

Naturally, her lips are shaped lovely. Using a liner is definitely a great help with ‘bleeding’, especially with reds. To use the liner under the lip colour, does help the lips to have colour for longer.

Now I get the point of a lip liner – “hides”. I just thought it was one of those cosmetic elements that people thought to just create, just because. so now I get it. Prevent the bleed.

A beauty, with so many stunning looks your skin does have to stay hydrated and smooth. Love the nude to bold lips

I know this sounds silly but Bepanthen works great for dry lips, its normally used for cracked nipples.

Kim always looks perfect. Matte really makes the lips feel dry, I use a lip balm or vaseline before I apply it.

Using vaseline at night also helps keep your lips moisturised
