With Twilight fever at its peak, pretty much everyone has seen KStew running through a forest with red eyes. We take a look at obtaining this soft, playful look on Kristen Stewart instead – because red contact lenses aren’t all that easy to come by.
This style is effortless, playful, and ideal for a hot summer night out. Give hair a rough blow dry, without making it death-by-flat-iron smooth. Use your fingers to comb it into a high ponytail, ensuring it’s not too perfect – you don’t want to look like you just came from second period Maths class. Wrap a thin strand of hair around the hair band, securing it into place with a bobby pin. No styling products are required. If, however, you feel you might have too many flyaways, give yourself a quick spritz of hairspray or Batiste XXL Volume Dry Shampoo, R80 (exclusive to Clicks).
Ms Stewart seems to have taken a slight step away from her über pale vampire complexion, and has added some beige-toned bronzer. After applying foundation, use a peach toned blush on the apples of your cheeks. Dust your face with a light (but warm) bronzer like Physician’s Formula Mineral Glow Pearls Powder Palette, R175, specifically suitable for light-medium skins (I’m super pale myself, and it’s one of the very few bronzing palettes I can apply all over my face). Don’t forget about your temples and the area just in front of your ears – they’re normally extra pale.
A very smart trick seen here is to use a contrasting colour to accentuate your own eye colour. And remember, metallics are still on trend if you’re copying this look for an evening out. If you have hazel eyes like Kristen, use a cool periwinkle, grey, or bluish shade. If you have blue/grey eyes, accentuate them with copper and pewter tones and if you have dark brown eyes, use purple or teal jewel tones. Elizabeth Arden has a beautiful new range of high quality eye shadow singles, R195 each. Where necessary, eyebrows can be lightly filled in with a powder shadow matching your natural brow colour, but they should not draw attention.
Lips are nude and matte, which adds to the fresh, youthful appearance. Fill the entire lip area with a nude peach lip liner, try Clarins Lip Liner Pencil in Nude, R185, and add a dab of lip balm to keep your lips hydrated.
