If you’d like to recreate Pabi Moloi’s soft, glamorous party look, here’s how…
All kinds of braids are big news this season, so you can’t really go wrong by braiding your braids. I’d tie a thin elastic around the end to keep it in place though, and don’t be afraid to experiment with a fishtail or something more daring.
This look calls for some serious glow – perfect for a night out. Start with exfoliated, well-moisturised skin, and use generous amounts of an illuminating primer like Stila One Step Illuminate, R330. Bear in mind that a ‘regular’ primer will mattify your skin, so look for something with light reflecting particles in it. Follow with concealer where necessary, and an illuminating/light diffusing foundation. Be wary of oil-free foundations, as again, they’ll mattify. If your skin is oil-prone, use your regular oil-free foundation, and dust certain areas with a shimmer bronzer. Physician’s Formula Powder Palette Mineral Glow Pearls, R175, is gorgeous and subtle enough. If you’re throwing caution to the wind, GOSH Bronze Pie, R135, is amazing too. Use a dab of red or coral blusher on the apples of your cheeks.
It’s all about soft golds and browns, and if you know your way around a bronzing palette you might not even need an eye shadow – I do it often with the GOSH Bronze Pie. Use a chocolate brown colour (the only shade that you probably won’t find in a bronzer compact) around the upper and lower lashes for a softer take on the classic smoky eye. Make use of caramel and bronze shades on the rest of the lid, and end with the lighter shades toward the brow bone.
A coral or pink nude is all that’s required here. If you’re after a longer lasting colour, fill in the entire lip area with lip liner first, and then follow with lip balm or gloss. Try YSL Glossy Stain in no 9, R375, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous, R100 or GOSH Volume Lip Shine in Soft Coral, R120.
Tip: There’s a difference between glowing and shining. If your skin becomes oily during the course of the evening, use blotting paper or powder on the areas where necessary. This will save you from looking like a mirror ball on party pictures. If you’re extremely susceptible to oily skin, avoid using shimmer products on the T-zone, and focus on the cheeks and collarbones instead.
