How can I treat acne scars?

Wednesday, 5 June 2013

Acne scarringI’m so sorry that you are dealing with this problem. When it comes to acne scarring, our very best results are always achieved when a patient is given the appropriate treatment and placed on a maintenace regime that compliments and enhances the treatment package. Scars are a dermal injury so simply putting on products is not enough to make a significant difference. Depending on the severity of the scarring we may have to combine a few treatment modlities in order to get you the best result. These may include anything from medical needling to chemical resurfacing, or laser resurfacing or rejuvenating treatments with various types of laser and even carboxy therapy.

I know that all sounds a whole lot scarier than what it actually is. Some patients require a combination of two of those treatments, some patients require a lot more, it just really depends on the individual’s skin. Then it is imperative to use the right actives to enhance the treatment results, and typically we woud need to include retinols and growth factors into this regime. I’d love to be able to help you. Are you near enough to any one of our Skin Renewal branches so that I can have a look at your skin? Pop in for a consultation so that we can determine the best treatment for you.

Picking your pimples is very temping but very bad for your skin, I learnt that the hard way. You’d think picking one pimple will do no harm until you realize that the pimples sneak up on you one at a time and your face is now two toned from the stupid, annoying pimples :'(

Hi RoseAngel. It would be best for you to consult a dermatologist with your queries.

I can’t wait to have my consult. I read that after a chemical peel the skin looks weird for a week before it looks better. Is this true? And that for a deep peel one has to go under anesthetic? Also what can you tell us about Phenol peels?

I know you should just leave the pimples alone but I never do. They end up leaving dark spots on my face.

I heard that use of a dermal roller also yields great results. Something by Environ? My man has regular Regim A peeks and his skin looks amazing for his age.

Wish I could rid myself of all scars and pores, but I am also scared of hectic procedures.

Another piece of advice is to wear high SPF sunscreen everyday. Prevent your scars from darkening because of the harsh rays.

Wish it was cheaper to remove acne scars. I have dark marks on my cheeks and I hate them.

Interesting to know this. The laser resurfacing procedure sounds daunting.

The insight on the topic is very helpful thank you. Really needed it since I have the bad habit of pinching my pimples, which often leads to scaring.

One thing is for sure when it comes to getting rid of or improving acne scarring, it is pricey, between the lasers and the products required its a lot.
