In this day and age, most of us have a few fragrances to choose from, and we end up saving certain scents for certain occasions. But how do you know which scent matches which event? Here, our simple guide to building a fragrance wardrobe:
The date night scent:
Every woman needs one of these. It can either be the fragrance you wore when you got married (Estée Lauder’s Beautiful, anyone?) or something new to attract a new mate. Try the sexy Chanel Allure Sensuelle EDP (R1380 for 100ml).
The work-wear favourite:
This needs to be appealing but not over-the-top. Subtly is key – choose something you love and ask for the EDT version, or go the cologne route; traditional cologne is a blend of citrus, florals, herbs and woods, explains Turin and Sanchez. We love the fresh Jo Malone White Jasmine & Mint Cologne (R1, 050 for 100ml).
The weekend essential:
Weekends are more relaxed and this should be evident in your perfume. Opt for a light scent that you can wear everywhere you go. Think brunch with your girlfriends, to a braai with his folks to date-night at the cinema. We recommend the lovely Bobbi Brown Beach EDP (R730 for 50ml).
The holiday must-have:
If the budget allows, make your holiday more memorable with a special scent of something that’ll be an instant reminder of your time away. Think of where it is you’re traveling, and choose accordingly – if you’re holidaying at the beach, spritz on a fresh, marine-inspired fragrance. We’re wearing Armani Acqua Di Gioia Femme EDP (R819 for 50ml) on our next summer trip.
