Battle of the CC Cream

First came BB Creams  and then came CC Creams. CC stands for “colour correct” or “complexion correcting.” They are used to help target dark spots, correct your skin tone and leave you with an even complexion.

THE PAY-DAY BUY: Chanel CC Cream SPF30, R645

The low-down: With its Chanel signature, this CC Cream combines five actions in one single step. It is a fusion of skin care and make-up that will leave your complexion fresh and radiant.
This will suit you if: You love to spoil yourself with a bit of luxury!

THE BECAUSE-YOU-CAN BUY: Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream SPF35, R390

The low-down: You can wear this alone or under your foundation for more coverage and it is proven to fade dark spots, sun spots and post-acne marks. It’s also available in five shades.
This will suit you if: You need to hide dark spots and want to match a shade to wear under your foundation. It feels very soft on the skin too.

THE INBETWEENER BUY: Almay CC Cream, SPF35, R140

The low-down:  It feels more like a tinted moisturiser, but it is still lightweight enough if you are not one for heavy coverage.
This will suit you if: You are new to CC Creams and want to try one out for the first time. It blends very easily and is the perfect size to pop into your handbag.

THE END-OF-THE-MONTH BUY: Yardley CC Cream SPF30, R99.95

The low-down: The complete colour correction cream from Yardley that is a 12-in-one multi-functioning product. It is travel-friendly and won’t break the bank.
This will suit you if: You have either normal, combination or oily skin, and are seeking an easy-to-apply product that will do all the work whilst still being very budget-friendly.

I haven’t used any BB creams I could say I like… Should try a CC cream. I love Yardley, efficient and cost-effective.

So I’m not a fan of bb creams, I have yet to try cc cream, and will hopefully do so soon

I’m not sure how I feel about changing from the BB cream to the CC cream. I’ve just started using Garnier’s new BB cream for oily to combination skin. It does not have the heaviness of the original BB cream, and it has no shine at all. It seems to melt into the skin, and barely rubs off at all. Watch out for it in the stores. It comes in a long tube that sets it apart from the original Garnier BB cream. Enjoy.

I have not tried any CC Cream as of yet but it sounds perfect after using bb cream. And such a great variety to suit the pockets.

I haven’t tried any of the CC Creams yet but would never part from the Ponds BB that I have been using. If this is an improvemnet on BB creams, I will start off with the Yardley one and judge from there.

The Chanel one is on my wishlist but for now I will have to settle for the Yardley one!

I was lucky enough to be given the Almay CC Cream to review a few months back and I still use it regularly now. I’d probably give the Smashbox one a try since the Chanel cream is way beyond what I’d be willing to pay for this kind of a product. I’d rather spend that kind of cash on something that would focus on treating pigmentation for example than hiding it for the short term.

I would love to use the Chanel, seeing I can not be paying that price I have to use another. Have tried a foundation of Yardley before and did not like that. My choice falls on the Almay.

I have tried the yardley one, must say the garnier BB cream is much better than this CC cream. It does, however, work well as a primer

Currently using the Yardley cc. It blends perfectly, oil free unlike the Garnier BB, gives great coverage and a little goes a long way unlike the Pond’s BB. The bonus is that it’s so affordable.

Am so glad Beauty SA is now reviewing Smashbox products as they really are in a league of their own

I have not tried a BB or CC cream as yet. It’s one of those type of products that I’m afraid will not work for my skin. I guess I have to try one and find out!

I did not expect the Yardley one to be that cheap. As much as they all seem fantastic, I am not buying into to hype until I see on that actually delivers on its promises.
