From intriguing collaborations, new stores, budding careers and one of the biggest names in fashion debuting their new Instagram account, the beauty world is abuzz with exciting beginnings.

The new face of Daisy by Marc Jacobs

Kaia Gerber has been announced as the new face of Marc Jacobs’ well-loved and enchantingly feminine fragrance, Daisy. If you think she looks familiar, it’s because she’s supermodel Cindy Crawford’s daughter – and she’s the spitting image of her mother.

Kaia, who was the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty, is fronting the brand and will appear in fun new advertorials in celebration of the fragrances’ 10-year anniversary.

“I think the new Daisy campaign is just super playful and young and light-spirited, which is exactly how I am in my everyday life”, said Kaia.

The 15-year old is holding her own in the industry and already appeared in Vogue, Love and Interview magazine, and starred in campaigns for mega brands, Mui Mui and Alexander Wang.


InstaGlam with D&G beauty

Luxury brand, Dolce&Gabbana has launched their new Instagram account dedicated to Beauty and we’re already starry-eyed.

The new account, @DGBEAUTY will focus on all things beauty, from gorgeous stills to Insta vids and must-have make-up products. Their first week on ‘the gram’ is dedicated to showcasing the new Miss Sicily lipstick line, which will launch in May and will hopefully hit our shores soon.

An ode to all things feminine and the allure of Sicilian women, the new lippy shades are bound to turn heads on and off Instagram.


Customised roles, that’s SiC

Academy Award-winning actress, producer, mother, and designer, Reese Witherspoon had us all intrigued and slightly confused by her new role. The talented 41-year-old beauty has been named the ‘Storyteller-in-Chief ‘ of Elizabeth Arden – we’re not quite sure what it all means, but it sounds pretty major.

It’s reportedly a custom role which will allow Reese to “shape the brand’s narrative”, and basically play a major role in working with the brand’s marketing, digital and advertising campaigns. Reese is also set to appear in the campaigns, which will debut in May and roll out globally throughout 2017.

“I’m excited to work as a creative partner alongside the Elizabeth Arden team, producing content that celebrates the spirit of the brand, highlighting female-centric stories that illustrate women’s true life experiences which unite us all”, said Reese.

JuE Wong, President of Elizabeth Arden couldn’t be happier to have the Oscar-winning actress on their team, “We are thrilled to be working with Reese. Reese exemplifies the ideals of our founder and continues to break boundaries every day. Like Elizabeth Arden before her, Reese does not accept the standard, she sets it, making her the perfect person to represent the brand and engage with our consumers globally”.

Together, Reese and the Elizabeth Arden brand will share untold stories and hope to encourage a new generation.

And just like that, a cool new job title is created. Wonder if there’ll be any courses in erm, SIC going forward?


Urban Decay hits Menlyn

In the spirit of all things new, Urban Decay will be opening another store in Menlyn this June – providing us with enough time to save up. High-tech setting sprays, lipsticks, and eyeshadows, oh my! The highly acclaimed cosmetics brand who has brightened up our beauty routine is ensuring it’s that much easier to buy their sought-after products. We’ve been hearing a buzz about a Cape Town store too, but nothing has been confirmed. We’ll share the news closer to the much-anticipated opening.
