Cindy Nell’s summer must-haves

Tuesday, 9 December 2014

We chatted to Cindy Nell about beauty, sunbathing and hair care. Here’s what she had to say:

BSA: What’s your number one sun tip?

Cindy: My number one sun tip is off course, wear sunblock, don’t ever go into the sun without sunblock, even your daily moisturiser, as well as foundation should both have at least an SPF15.

BSA: What products are you currently using?

Cindy: I use Catrice Photo Finish with SPF15 Foundation No. 3 and Skin Science Revitalizing Day Cream with SPF15.

BSA: What can we do to get that healthy summer glow?

Cindy: When going into the sun or to the beach the idea is to already look fabulous. And as appealing as it sounds to go and lie in the sun to get a tan, the reality is far less pretty. It doesn’t look sexy, you burn your skin, and put yourself at risk of cancer, pigmentation, wrinkles and dehydration.

BSA: What is your tanning pet peeve?

Cindy: When people lie on the beach with their red bums in the air with tan marks glowing from oily sunscreen. I think it’s far more glamorous to lie under an umbrella reading your favourite book with a beautiful faux tan. Sunbathing is so 1950’s.

BSA: Best faux tanning product?

Cindy: Caribbean Tan has various products from instant colour to clear mouse products that develop overnight, as well as tinted sun protection to give you instant colour. You get a great colour and protection, which enhance your tan while protecting you, if you absolutely insist on sunbathing.

BSA: What are the products you cannot be without this summer?

Cindy: A MAC foundation brush – applying foundation with the right brush gives you that light non-caked foundation look for beautiful luminous skin. I also cannot be without the Prime and Fine from Catrice that I use under my foundation.

BSA: Favourite products for summer?

Cindy: My favourite product is the essence Sun Club all in one bronzing highlighter – it’s just amazing – I’m in love with it.

BSA: For the lips?

Cindy: For my lips a light application of essence dare to be nude lipstick makes me look and feel glam but toned down.

BSA: Mascara?

Cindy: Waterproof mascara and eyeliner from Catrice are my favourite – I have a few different ones from Catrice.

BSA: To get that overall glow?

Cindy: The Caribbean Tan Shimmer. I apply it before I go out and before events or shoots and everyone always asks why my skin looks so amazing. Everybody loves the shimmer!

BSA: What fragrance will you be wearing?

Cindy: The original Michael Kors – love, love, love.

BSA: And for hair?

Cindy: I go to the hair salon every week for a blow wave and I love the Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine Hairspray to keep my curls in place.

I like her description of red bums in the air! So true! An umbrella does look more glamorous and less revealing.
