LGBT influencers

We’re at an exciting time in beauty. Now, more than ever, it’s an inclusive and happy industry where people from all different backgrounds are finding wiggle room in a space that formerly worked hard to keep them out.

We want to celebrate some of the heroes championing this change, so here’s our list of must-follow beauty influencers.

Gigi Gorgeous

Transgender Canadian babe, Gigi Gorgeous, has been in the Youtube game a long time. She is first and foremost a beauty expert, but often shares stories about her LGBT journey. Watch her video with Kylie Jenner above, and give her a follow on Insta.

Harnaam Kaur

Harnaam Kaur is the body-positive activist no one deserves but everyone needs. After being diagnosed with PCOS as a child, Harnaam struggled with her body image throughout school. Thankfully for us, Harnaam overcame societal pressures, and became the bad-ass model we know and love. Watch her TedTalk here.

Nyama Tang

Nyama Tang hails from Texas, and has taken over Youtube with her incredible ‘the darkest shade’ series where she tests the darkest shade from all the big beauty brands. Highlighting how often cosmetics aren’t made with people of colour in mind, Nyama is calling the industry out on its systematic racism.There. For. It.

Patrick Starrr

After receiving backlash for his love of makeup in the American South, Patrick Starrr shook off the hate and went on to have one of the world’s most successful social platforms. Follow for good vibes and high glamour.

Jackie Aina

Jackie Aina is a babe among mere mortals. Shooting to fame after her viral ‘Trends We’re Ditching’ series, Jackie has gone on to inject Youtube with a much-needed dose of finesse. Check out her Instagram feed, here.

SHOUTOUT to Nyama Tang for embracing her skin, inspiring other females/ woc, and making us aware of how woman of colour(woc) struggle to find the correct foundation and other make -up products because most brands dont cater to us.

I personally don’t like Jeffrey Starr for his history of racist comments. I adore Alissa Ashley, Jackie Aina, Ellarie, Shalom Blac and Makeupshayla.

Hey Sandra. Thank you for your comment. I looked into it and would like to apologise for including Jeffrey Starr in this article to begin with. I’ll be replacing Jeffrey with your suggestion of Jackie Aina, who I also *adore*. Thank you for helping to keep our community inclusive! – Aléz
