FW-inspired Halloween looks

Friday, 19 October 2012

We couldn’t help ourselves. Yes, South African’s don’t really celebrate Halloween, but if you’re one of the few who have been invited to a party on All Hallows Eve, we found these ‘interesting’ ideas from the latest Fashion Weeks.

2058 Hipster and Bridezilla

2058 Hipster

Too cool for school, this futuristic inspiration comes from Anna Sui’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection at New York Fashion Week. Pop on a blue bob wig, tease your ponytail and get a little heavy handed with the blue eyeliner.

There’s really nothing complicated to pulling off this look by McNairy & Gul (showcased at New York Bridal Fashion Week). Start by creating a flawless complexion and then master the red lip. Flip your hair up into a neat, high bun and wrap lace or chiffon fabric matching your gown around your eyes. There’s no need for heavy eyeliner or mascara and you don’t want to smudge these under the fabric.

Belly-dancing zombie and A bad romance

It’s finally time to whip out those too-light foundations to create a pale complexion. With a kohl eyeliner and smoky eye palette, cover the entire area between your eyebrow and upper lash line. Finish off with a deep red or wine lipstick.

A bad romance

Unleash your inner Gaga with a headpiece. All you need is soft wire bent in the shape of a heart, attached to a low pony or bun, and wrap stretchable (and breathable) fabric around your head. Use a tinted lip balm or matte lipstick to avoid smudging and a smoky eye that’ll stand out through the fabric.
