new-buys

With so many new products going on sale each month, it’s hard to decide which ones you should hit. Or miss. Each month we bring you a selection of the latest high-end beauty products on our radar… and yes we’ll be sharing the love with BSA Gold Members in our December Trial Team. So don’t forget to make sure your profile is complete.

Product name: Afriderm Serum Concentrate

Price: R185

Available: Selected pharmacies and Edgars stores

The verdict: At last, a skincare product developed specifically for dark skin. This serum locks in essential moisture and improves skin’s firmness and clarity. We love that it’s fast absorbing and doesn’t leave your face looking ashy.

Product name: Afriderm Day Cream SPF20

Price: R159

Available: Selected pharmacies and Edgars stores

The verdict: This cream hydrates, soothes and calms stressed skin with natural emollient oils. It’s made with herbal oils and Shea Butter and leaves skin with a great after feel.

Product name: Cantu hair care selection

Price: From R129, 95

Available: Selected pharmacies and retailers

The verdict: This new hair care range includes a moisturiser, a leave-in conditioner and strengthening treatment. Not only will it keep your hair nourished but it smells delicious too, thanks to the Shea Butter in the ingredients.

Product name: Hask Hot Oils

Price: R54.95

Available: Selected Clicks stores

The verdict: Hask has introduced new hot oil treatments to their range. The Argan and Monoi Coconut hot oil deliver an intense hydration and much-needed TLC to over-styled and stressed out hair. We love that it rescues the hair with all the needed moisture without the grease and heaviness. A major bonus!

Product name: Labello Blackberry Shine

Price: R21.99

Available: Selected pharmacies and retailers

The verdict: It’s a great substitute for lipstick if you’re looking to go minimal. And because it’s essentially a lip balm, your pout stays soft and nourished throughout the day.

Product name: Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge

Price: R399

Available: Selected retailers

The verdict: This was love at first sight. Back and better than before with sleek packaging that has a top that literally pops off at the top with one click of a manicured finger. The lipsticks come in cream and matte and are available in 25 new shades, including our new favourite shade, Jezebel. The lipstick is long-wearing – we wore the Rouge Flamboyant on a night out and our red lips didn’t budge, even after four hours. They have a creamy finish which leaves lips feeling moisturised all day. A real investment lipstick!

Product name: 3INA

Price: From R149, 95

Available: 3INA stores in Eastgate, Menlyn and Sandton

The verdict: It’s been ten months since the 3INA (pronounced MINA) worldwide launch and this brand is causing serious waves. The products come in cute and simple packaging and we were lucky enough to try the cream eyeshadow and the nail polish and we loved both! The nail polish offers a gel finish and dries really quickly. The creamy eyeshadow came in a very on-trend metallic pink shade and blends beautifully on the skin. A must try, especially for the approaching festive season.

Product name: essence

Price: From R38,95

Available: Clicks and Dischem stores

The verdict: Our fave budget brand essence’s spring/summer range 2016 offers an array of products designed to make you look fab whether you’re going for an understated look or full-on glam. What caught our eye was the new 2 in 1 matte lipstick and liner, an essential combo for your makeup bag. The contouring eyeshadow set is also a must-have. You don’t have to be a pro to contour your eyes in flattering shades, thanks to the step-by-step instructions found on the packaging.

Essence mascaras give you plenty of bang for the buck. It’s a high-quality product that gives you gorgeous eyelashes without breaking the bank. No clumps, flaking or smudging and the product is easy to remove with eye-makeup remover.
