Our favourite looks from the 2014 BAFTA Awards

Monday, 17 February 2014

What do we love most about the BAFTA Awards? It has to be the gorgeous array of starlets gracing the red carpet. Usually dressed to the nines in designer gowns, these beauties are followed around by staff members carrying umbrellas (it’s British winter, after all) and brave the chilliest of nights in skin-baring ensembles. Their teeth may be chattering, but they still find the time to pose for photos before heading into the venue. Here, our favourite looks from the night.

BAFTA Awards 2014
Maggie Gyllenhaal
The always quirky actress proves that a pixie cut doesn’t have to look boring on the red carpet. With the right make-up and accessories, it’s just as sophisticated as an up-do or longer length style. Maggie kept her hair, make-up and jewellery simple as all focus was on her embellished gown. We love the pop of colour on her lips, pink cheeks and bright eyes.

Lupita Nyong’O
Possibly our favourite look from the night, Lupita dazzles in green. Her emerald eyeshadow complements her gown beautifully, while her fresh complexion gives her a youthful glow. We love that her lips matched her nails too! This up-and-coming star is fast becoming one of the most talked about ladies on the red carpet.

Gillian Anderson
No longer the brave red head we remember from The X-Files, Gillian is becoming more and more sophisticated as she ages. We love her blonde hair and simple make-up. A very subtle smokey eye, nude lipgloss, peach cheeks and long eyelashes are all that’s needed for her glam look.

Fearne Cotton
British presenter and Top Of The Pops host Fearne Cotton is known for her eclectic style, and her look at the BAFTA Awards did not disappoint. We adore her voluminous blonde locks and glittery bronze smokey eyes. The tiny specks of gold glitter around her eyelids matched her sequinned gown and showed that sometimes, more can be more.

Cate Blanchett
The ever-gorgeous Cate never fails to enchant us with her natural beauty. Her stunning ‘do looks chic and sophisticated, and, as always, her make-up is elegant and understated. We love her peachy lipstick and matching blusher!

Angeline Jolie
Mom-of-many, Angeline Jolie, turned heads when she and Brad Pitt arrived at the event wearing matching tuxedos. She rocked her signature smokey eye and nude lip, but what we loved the most was her hairstyle. Caught between casual and sophisticated, her long locks looked thick and healthy. Plus we love that she didn’t take herself too seriously with this look!

I’m not loving Maggie Gyllenhaal’s short hair, but otherwise she looks great.

They have all kept it elegant and classic. I like the nude, almost-no-makeup makeup look

I have never heard of Fearne Cotton until now but I have to say her look is the most striking yet subtle of the selection above. She looks so old-school glam without being uncomfortable, it’s a gorgeous look.
I don’t think Maggie’s hair is quite right though, it seems a bit pasty.

Lupita is clearly the standout looking absolutely gorgeous. The combination colours of green and metallic on her skin tone are fantastic.
