Draw attention to one feature at a time this spring. Let’s talk eyes!
Besides for the popular cat eye look, runway models sported perfectly defined eyes this season. Eyeliner was perfectly placed as close to the lash line as possible and then smudged, resulting in a subtler effect. Besides for jet black, why not try a beautiful line of aqua or ultramarine blue? Blue is hot this season!
Try: Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in Tu Tu Touquoise, R19.95 or black|Up Waterproof Smoky Kohl Pencil, R130.
Silver / white pencil
This is a big trend for spring and can instantly open your eyes and give you a fresh look. Apply it to the inner corners of your eye and see the unbelievable effect it can give. If you are willing to be more daring, line your entire eyelid.
Try: Bourjois Contour Clubbing Waterproof liner, R89.95.
You can’t expect your eyes to pop unless you frame them with a few coats of mascara. Lashes are big this season, so play along and apply 2 – 3 coats of your favourite mascara. You may want to start with your mascara and then apply your liner afterwards. CK Colour’s international make-up artist, Jodie Boland, says that by applying your mascara first, you are able to draw your liner as close to the lash line as possible. All shades of blue are popular for spring, so alternate between black and blue when it comes to mascara.
Try: Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara, R335, and Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Aqua Blue, R355.
We mentioned that blue hues are a big trend… Well, we weren’t joking! From navy blue to jade green, these colours swept the lids of models on the runways. Don’t be scared to rock these shades. Just be gentle and layer until you are happy. Remember to blend well!
Try: Essence Quattro Eyeshadow in Laugh, Love, Lime, R39.95.
To end off your spring look, define your eyebrows. Fill them in with a brow pencil or shadow in the same shade as your natural brow colour, à la Cara Delevingne.
Try: Elizabeth Arden Dual Perfection Brow Shaper in Brunette, R145.
