The Pantone colour for 2017 is…

Tuesday, 10 January 2017

According to the folks at Pantone Colour Institute, the grass and erm, stuff, in general, will be greener on the other side of 2016.

Every year since 2000, the company has chosen a colour that reflects the current cultural climate. The chosen colour has historically influenced trends in all things that affect our daily lives – interior décor, fashion, food, architecture and travel.

You may remember that the Pantone Colours of 2016 were Rose Quartz and Serenity. This year they’ve chosen Nature’s favourite neutral: Pantone Greenery 15-0343.

“A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront – it is an omnipresent hue around the world. It’s a versatile “trans-seasonal” shade that lends itself to many colour combinations. Greenery can be paired with neutrals, brights, deeper shades, pastels, metallics and even the enduring presence of last years Rose Quartz and Serenity,” reads Pantone’s announcement.

It’s a little bit Kermit the Frog-ish but if Mother Nature can pull it off so well, we’re going green this year with a vengeance.

Green is one my go-to colours. Like the olive and army green? It pairs beautifully with black so on my “colour” days, that’s what I wear.

I have never worn anything green, I doubt I will start now.

In see Greenery in the natural beauty of the forest, hilly valleys or mountains. The beautiful green landscaped lawn. In terms of clothing i do not see myself in the colour green.

I’m not a big lover of green, but there’s something about this colour that is so fresh and lively. Nothing will beat the pantone colours of 2016 though – Rose Quartz and Serenity. I got married last year and those were my colours.

I’m not a huge fan of green to be honest.

I much prefer darker shades of green.. like emerald, this green is a bit much for me!
South Africa is a bit slow on the trend though, don’t see much of any shade of green in the clothing stores.

When I read this article I immediately thought of the forest green wool coat the Duchess of Cambridge wore on Christmas day to the Sandringham church service. She looked so stylish and fresh. Green is definitely the new black!
