Evening eye make-up is synonymous with black liner, but you don’t have to go smoky or be heavy handed to pull it off. Instead, make like X-Men: First Class actress January Jones and opt for pale or nude shadow with a single line on top. The great thing about lining just the top lid is that it won’t make your eyes look small; one of the hazards of using liner all the way around.
Copy her look
Sweep ivory coloured shadow on your eyelids, using a pearly white shade in the inner corner of your eye. This will help ‘wake up’ your face and make your eyes appear brighter.
I always put a liquid liner on AFTER applying eye shadow because I like the sharpness of the black on my pale lids. However, if you want a slightly softer look, use your liner first and then blur the line ever so slightly when you go over it with your shadow.
Next, apply the liner to your top lash line, starting from the inside corner and working outwards. If you’re working with a liquid liner, be sure to keep your eyes slightly closed for at least twenty seconds so you don’t smudge your handiwork.
For a bit more drama, make like Angelina Jolie and extend your liner ever so slightly outwards and upwards.
She might be a hubby-napper, but the girl sure knows her way around liquid liner.
Be careful not to go to far out or you’ll end up looking Amy Winehouse. Doing this will make your eyes appear wider. To rev things up even further, opt for a pair of false eyelashes. We like Kangol Xtras Wink Wink Volume lashes, R49,95.
