Winter beauty trends from the runway

Thursday, 13 June 2013

This winter sees a lot of rehashing of previous season’s trends, with a couple of twists thrown in between. We take a look at some the trendiest runway faces of Autumn / Winter 2013.

Winter runway trends

1. Fruit Salad
Afraid that the ever-trendy berry lip will tire your complexion, or not quite sure what to wear with red? Pair it with a milky pastel eye liner. Don’t try to match it (avoid pinks and lilacs) but rather clash it with a blue or green shade. Keep the rest of your face completely neutral.

2. Red, red wine
If you’ve always wanted to try a lip colour in a wine / berry shade, now is the time. After being declared dead on arrival just a couple of years ago, it’s back and bigger than ever before. Pair it with a lively, glowing complexion to avoid looking worn down, and go for a natural looking blush.

3. Being Bold
I’ve always loved a bold brow, and I love that it’s been fashionable year after year. Fill yours in with a powder shadow for the most natural effect, and avoid over-plucking, just like your mom told you.

4. Get Graphic
Taking cat eye liner one step further, you can try your hand at graphic black eyeshadow. Be sure to keep your cheeks fresh and rosy and your lips juicy so you don’t scare the kids!

5. Bare and bronzed
A rarity in winter, but keeping colour to a minimum and just contouring, highlighting and adding blusher can make you look vibrant and healthy (ignore this model’s deadpan stare, however). Add a dab of shimmery bronzer and you’re ready for a night out on the town, while everyone around you looks like Stiff Sally’s.

I’d love to do a dark red wine or berry shade on my lips but I have uneven lips as I was born with a cleft lip and am worried it will enhance that, are there any tricks I could use to diminish it?

I completely agree that the red lip is back! Complexions tend to look quite dull during winter so a popping lip colour definitely perks up the face in no time! :)
