When it comes to eyeshadow, I stick to a few trusted high-end brands, as I trust their quality more so than cheaper eyeshadows. Considering I don’t buy eyeshadow as often as I buy other make-up items, I am happy to spend a little bit more.
The majority of my eyeshadow collection is made up of MAC quad palettes and individual eyeshadows, so I was thrilled to try out the new Mineralize Eye Shadow! Unlike the quad palettes, this eye shadow contains four shades in one container.
While I was not too taken with the packaging, the layout isn’t as neat as my other shadows; the colour selection is absolutely gorgeous. I tested out the shade Golden Hours that contains four brown / gold shades that would make any eyeshadow lover weak at the knees.
As with most quad shadow compacts, Golden Hours contains a dark shade to create definition, a light shade to highlight and two medium shades in between. I was slightly worried by the “glittery” appearance of the shadows, but one blended I was left with a subtle shimmer.
Overall, I am very impressed with the colour pay off of this eyeshadow and it is the perfect compact to start out with as it contains the full range of shades that one needs to create a smokey eye.
