The Nailgrowth Miracle Serum from Sally Hansen promises longer, stronger and instantly smoother cuticles. The serum is enriched with Biotin which is said to improve nail growth. I cannot claim that this product made my nails grow any faster, but it certainly improved their condition. The serum absorbs quickly, is non-greasy and provides your nails with a beautiful, refreshed look. My cuticles were softer, and my nails were less dry after applying the product. The serum has a thick consistency, and can be applied with a dropper and then massaged into the cuticles. The application process is simple, and mess-free. I would not recommend this product to someone who has nails that grow naturally fast, but if you’re looking for something to soothe dry/brittle nails, this might be the miracle product you’ve been waiting for.
Worth the money
The Vitamin E Nail and Cuticle Oil from Sally Hansen promises to help strengthen and nourish nails and cuticles, and it delivers just this. The product is a really lightweight oil that can be applied with a small brush, similar to that found on your regular nail polish. Enriched with Vitamin E, Wheat Germ, Apricot Kernel, Aloe and Panthenol, the oil moisturizes and conditions dry nails. This product would work well for people who wash their hands excessively, or for those of us who spend hours soaking in the bathtub. The cuticle oil is easily absorbed and extremely nourishing. Another selling point is that it lasts very long, especially if stored in a cool, dry place. The oil is odor-free and will not irritate sensitive people. It works well, and I will certainly purchase it again if the first bottle ever gets used up.
Not what I expected
The 18K Gold Hardener from Sally Hansen may look like your average glitter nail polish, but seems infinitely more indulgent because it is infused with real gold. The 18K gold is said to form a protective shield that locks in moisture while providing your nails with a lovely luminous glow. However, I was quite disappointed when I applied the hardener to my nails. The gold flecks do not show up well, and the polish itself looked very dull compared to a regular top coat. After three coats, there was barely a shine on my nails, never mind the luminous glow the product promises. One positive point is that my nails did not chip wearing the polish, so Sally Hansen makes good on their promise of strengthening nails. If you have nails in need of some TLC, then this is a good product for you. But if you are in search something that would wow your dinner party guests, it’s best to give this one a miss. You’re not likely to get any compliments while wearing this product – you’d be lucky if people noticed it at all. I will not be buying this again.
To someone who’s not a fan of One Direction, a pink box adorned with five disembodied heads may seem a little cheesy. The packaging of ‘Our Moment’ is less than impressive, which is why I was shocked by its contents and the beautiful scent that wafted up the moment I opened it. The bottle is quite literally a masterpiece – a lovely prism with a crown of pink and silver as the top. Just looking at it makes you feel like an adolescent girl again, but the perfume itself far exceeded my expectations. I anticipated a girly fruity fragrance, but the scent is surprisingly sophisticated, considering it’s a One Direction brand. The soft, floral notes linger for at least 5 hours. ‘Our Moment’ is a combination of sweet notes that will have you sniffing your wrists like a maniac. The scent is not overwhelming or headache-inducing at all. Retails for R475. Flirty sophistication in a bottle: girls and women alike will fall in love with it. It almost makes me wish that I was going to the concert. I would definitely buy it again!
Would love to try!
I have only ever used Yardley’s powder foundation. Seeing as it’s almost all up now, I would love to try another one. Maybelline Clear and Smooth looks great. I have yet to find a powder foundation that does not cake… I am eager to try this one! It looks quite small, though. I will have to see it in store before I really make a decision. Can’t wait to try it.
No more lip liner!
I am so sick and tired of having to apply lip liner before every lipstick application. It’s a pain in the butt having to do mirror checks every five minutes, for fear that the lipstick has either a) come off on your teeth and made you look like some bloodsucker vampire who’s just had lunch, or b) that the colour has bled into the fine lines around your mouth. Imagine looking deep into your man’s eyes and having him stare back at such a pout! Oh, no. These are but some of the hangups I have with regular lipstick, but some of the reasons I choose to avoid it. All those stains on glasses and shirts, ew. Maybelline Super Stay lipstick might change my mind about this particular cosmetic forever. I am looking forward to trying it in either a deep red, or a nude. Cannot wait. Dis-Chem, here I come! :D
