Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Mineral Bronze

I love it

I love the compact and the cute little kabuki that comes with it. The bronzer itself is a cake beneath a grater dial which you need to twist, and a few shards are shaved off the top. Once you dip the kabuki in it, it becomes a super fine powder – The kabuki allows for perfect and precise application of this bronzer. It is a beautiful color with gold particles in it. It is the most amazing thing I have ever seen as it effectively reflects light, enhances my complexion, giving me a perfect golden skin, bronzed goddess look! Its soooo easy to use this product and the results are gorgeous!

I use it as a blush, and it gives my skin the perfect hint of radiant glow, I love it!!! It has good staying power, and does not split – even though I have oily skin.

Avon Black Mineral Mask

Black Mineral Mask

I used some of my brothers mask to see for myself if it was any good or not. I love the fact that when wet, it’s black, and when dry and ready to be removed, it’s grey. Besides the fact that I looked super scary, I could actually feel how it was working on my skin. Once I rinsed off and patted my face dry, I could immediately see the difference. My skin looked radiant and matte, my pores looked smaller, my skin looked more clear and was baby soft and smooth. All in all, it is really worth it experience! It is super cheap as well, especially given the fact that it does work and gives great results!

Avon Lip Crayon

Notice Me Nude + Risque Rose

Firstly it needs to be said that the variety of colors is absolutely beautiful, especially the notice me nude, it just totally does it for me! The shimmer in the formula is gorgeous and it looks amazing on my lips.

What I don’t like? I find the formula to actually dry out my lips, it’s left feeling tight and uncomfortable – So I need to apply a lip balm or something under neath in order to make this wearable for me. So I don’t find it to be moisturizing at all, quiet the opposite. The shimmer is amazing when on the lips, not so amazing when it on my skin around my mouth – I look a bit like a disco ball in the sun. The color comes off easily, So I need to constantly re-apply. I really like the lip crayons, so much so that I can overlook the negatives.

Smashbox Gel Liner

Gel Eyeliner

Seeing as I have no prior experience with a gel liner, I can’t compare it to other brands. That being said, I will try and give you the best feedback I can as I first time user as well as a contact lens wearer.

I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to purchase and try out this liner. On the pic it actually looks black, but when I received it and on closer inspection, it is actually a soft black (or grey) liner, which I think is a good thing as it allowed me the chance to test the visual appearance of a ‘softer’ color option as I tend to always go for deep intense blacks.

On first appearances, the pot is really small, and so is the brush, but once I got the hang of it, the brush is actually perfect for application, as well as getting the product out of the pot (if it were any bigger I would have a problem).

I find that the gel liner has a really nice soft and creamy consistency, this makes for easy application as the formula just glides over my lids. It took me a few attempts to get the hang of it (and things got a bit messy), but once I got it right, I was pretty pleased with the results.

This is a gel liner right, so it did not appear dried out to me, so I was confused as to why during the course of the day I sort of had a fall out of blackish flakes around my eye area. This is a big no for me as I wear contacts and there is nothing more irritating (and sometimes painful) than having to extricate a black clump or flake of eye make up out of my eye. For this reason alone, I will not repurchase this product.

Over all, I think It is a really good quality from a great make up house, I just don’t think it’s for me. So therefore I would only give it 2/5 starts for effectiveness as it just didn’t do it for me. And not to mention I prefer intense blacks, The grey sort of makes my eyes look flat.

Avon Ultra Glazewear Lipgloss

Tangerine Gleam

Okay, so I am totally crazy for coral, so when I saw this shade, I just had to have it!!

The packaging is fairly petite which make it convenient and easy to carry around, it’s simple and to the point and very elegant.

The formula has really good pigment quality and a nice consistency, making it thick enough to show the color, but remain light weight at the same time – this ensures a lovely comfortable wear.

It last for about 2-3 hours, so fairly average when it comes to wear / staying power capability, but what does make this different is that is doesn’t just fade in 1 go, it fades gradually, so at least I am comfortable knowing that I won’t have a washed out look, but yet varying shades of coral which is a huge bonus!

Over all a really great effort from Avon! I think this should definitely be a staple in every girls handbag!

Stila Custom Colour

AMAZING value for money

For only R199 I think that this is AMAZING value for money! The Packaging is a sleek black compact with the Stila logo as well as a number of stars embossed on the lid. When opening the compact there is a generously sized mirror for added convenience.

The blush itself has a beautiful shimmery effect of warm golden undertones, and is actually quite darker than portrayed on pictured (when doing online shopping) as it is more of a russet/deep brown color. I used my avon angled blush brush to apply, and even though this baked powder, I find that 1 swirl of my brush is more than enough as the powder picks up quite quickly with minimal to no excess powder laying around – so really good value for money here as this will definitely last me quite long!

I am fair, so I have to really go easy on this when using as a blush. It is very highly pigmented, but thank goodness it is very easy to manipulate in order to achieve the desired effect. My cheeks had a nice warm shimmery color (after numerous attempts to manipulate the color, trying to get it to behave on my skin), but still seemed a bit ‘off’. I don;t really get the self adjusting aspect of this blush as it did not appear to change over the 2 hours which I had it on. Seeing how it was a Saturday morning at home, I could really play with it to see what it was all about. When it came time to go out though, I needed a bit more to make it blend correctly or appear more natural. I used my Stila Set and Illuminate powder over this, and only then did it give off a beautiful natural glow that I was looking for!

My final thoughts is that I would not use this as a stand alone blush. I would pair this with my Stila Set an Illuminate powder to achieve the natural glow. It’s dark enough to use for contouring though, so I guess over all a good buy for me :)
