Two words: Love It! Maybe I’m just an all-round Sally Hansen fan, but I really liked this product. I tried out the Peach of Cake shade, which is a beautiful peach colour I’d recommend for this spring/summer. It is thick, but that’s the thing I love about it – no need for layers upon layers, just apply and you’re off! Plus, with its built-in base and top coat, it keeps its shine even when dry. I also created some funky nail art by adding a few other colours to it and I must admit, it looked awesome. Although I didn’t leave it on long enough to test out the 10-day claim, I’ll definitely use it again this coming spring/summer.
Shades to impress
I particularly like Ice Box’s vibrant colours, but was pleasantly surprised to find these beautiful soft shades. For some reason, these colours reminded me of macaroons, which is probably what the creators were aiming for seeing as it’s the High Tea range. I opted for the Cheeky Charls shade and what a colour this is! It truly shines from the moment you apply it, although you may need an extra layer to add some intensity. I added a top coat for extra strength and shine, but if you’re in a hurry, you can even wear it as is.
This is definitely a funky colour that you can have some fun with! Mix and match it with other colours to create colourful nail art – these shades will make you stand out among the crowd. Plus, it dries in next to no time. A must in my books!
Intensify your look
Max Factor’s Wild Shadow Pots comes in a tiny eyeshadow pot with a screw-on lid that can easily be carried in your handbag. I tested the Deviant White shade and while it is really bright and does pack a punch, I found the amount of shimmer a bit annoying. It led to quite a lot of excess shadow on my face, so for first-time users, I’d recommend placing a tissue under your eye when applying or using a cleansing towelette to remove any excess eyeshadow afterwards.
Other than that little niggle, it still does well. I applied the shade over my whole lid and added a darker colour to the outer corner of my eye, which created a beautiful dramatic look. What I liked about this colour is that you can play around with it to create different looks – for instance you can also create a subtle look by adding this shade to your lid and a soft pink in the crease of the eye.
Ready to shimmer?
I was lucky enough to test out the Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadow in Crystal shade. It comes in a small eyeshadow pot that you can basically throw in your handbag and your good to go. It’s creamy and smooth and is very easy to apply. This shade is really shimmery and bright, so I’d recommend it for a formal event or a night out on the town. It comes in six shades overall, so if you’re looking for something with a bit more punch, there are a few other options available.
You can apply it with a brush, but if you’re in a hurry, you can simply dab a little onto your finger and sweep it across your lid for a quick fix. Be careful of applying too much though as it can cause creasing. I’m usually a bit sceptic of creamy eyeshadows (as they often wipe off after an hour or two), but must admit that the Excess Shimmer Eyeshadow lasted throughout the evening. Quite impressive!
This serum has a smooth texture and comes in a small, elegant bottle, which is typical of Estée Lauder’s brand. When applying it, it absorbed into my skin effortlessly. Estée Lauder claims a significant reduction in the look of dark spots, discolorations, blotchiness and redness in just four weeks, and an improvement in the skin’s texture and tone in less than two weeks. Another big plus is that it’s also non-acnegenic and won’t clog pores. I’ve only used it for a couple of nights, but it definitely leaves my skin feeling silky soft. With regards to the dark spots, it’s still too early to tell a difference, but just from the couple days’ application, my skin already feels more hydrated.
Enlightening and Moisturising Crème
This cream feels smooth, has a thickish consistency and a light fragrance. Estée Lauder claims that 95% of women who tested this product said their skin felt softer and smoother, and I have to agree. I used it a couple of times and my skin feels very smooth, and has a bright glow to it. I also used it on my hands and they also had a velvety feel afterwards. Another big plus is that it’s also non-acnegenic and won’t clog pores – this is great as a lot of intense moisturising products usually cause my skin to break out.
