Animal-friendly beauty

Animal friendly beauty brands

At the end of the day, it’s up to each individual to decide whether they can use a beauty product that has been tested on animals with a clear conscience, or not.

Many countries have banned the practice of testing beauty products on animals, and are finding alternate ways to test their ingredients. It used to be that either certain ingredients, or the final product was tested to see if animals had reactions to it. This would then indicate to the manufacturer whether the product safe to use on humans, or not.

Finding beauty products that have not been tested on animals is a lot harder than you may think. With more and more people becoming aware, however, animal testing will hopefully be banned everywhere, very soon.

If you wish to start only using products that have not been tested on animals, look out for a bunny logo on the back of the packaging or visit Beauty Without Cruelty for more information.Until then, here are some of our favourite animal-friendly beauty brands that you can support:

The Body Shop

Dr Hauschka

Moroccanoil

Paula’s Choice

Charlotte Rhys

  1. Thank you for this article. I love animal friendly products and I never know what is safe. I love animals and think it is sick to mistreat them.

  2. This has become my priority for 2014…finding products that I love that is not tested on animals and phase the others out. According to their websites Essence, Oh SO Heavenly & African Extracts Rooibos, are also not tested on animals.

  3. Cruelty-free is one reason I like The Body Shop. You can use their products knowing that no animal has been harmed in the production.

  4. It would be really useful to have an article revealing the names of the companies that still do test on animals, giving consumers a choice whether to use them or not
