Well done to Garnier and Rimmel for giving us an affordable option! Thank you for the prices!

I love Garnier, since it is less expensive it might put off some people but the quality is great and it works very well. Only problem is that it tends to make my skin oil at times but I would definitely suggest it.

Hi Moodley. We suggest trying either Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream or Ponds BB Cream for a shade that will best blend with your complexion.

I’ve been living in Asia for the past 4 years, and BB creams have been all the rage there since before I arrived. SA is only just starting now! I wonder how products in SA compare to traditional Korea / Japanese / Taiwanese BB creams….

What a great article – BB creams are my beauty musthave this year, they are perfect for me and my lifestyle, but I am curious to find out what the difference between BB creams and CC creams are – could you give us some more info on the new CC creams that are being launched?

I use the Garnier BB and have been very happy with it. But am dying to try the Clinique – both the BB and CC creams. But they are very pricey and it’s a lot of money to go to waste if one doesn’t like them. :(

I have tried the Smashboxx BB Cream (in Dark) and I LOVE it!!! I will definately be repurcasing it! It costs R390 but honestly, in my opinion, it is worth every cent. I would just advise that if you have oily or combonation skin, you will need to set it with a powder (I use MAC Studio Fix Powder). The BB Cream doesn’t tend to keep oiliness at bay as it claims (or maybe it’s just my skin). But boy, it’s a GREAT product! I was thinking of trying other BB Creams but I am reluctant. Smashbox BB Cream is the one for me!

I’ve never tried any BB creams and as a soon to be mom money can be a bit tight, although I am definitely going to try the Garnier BB cream as I am in need of much pampering!

Wow, I would love to test all of these! I must admit, I am a Bobbi Brown fan. The colour suits me perfectly, it’s long lasting and my skin feels as if it can still breath.

So many BB creams, I love my Bobbi Brown one which I use regularly, the Garnier one is also fantastic. I am not a fan of the Rimmel one though, it’s a bit pasty for my liking.

Garnier was my first BB cream, and I loved it.. With so many more options I think its time to move on and try a new product….I came across BB creams from Ponds, Essence and Catrice..

I have tried both Rimmel and Ganier BB’s. The Rimmel was terrible for my skin tone, but the Garnier in medium, was a perfect fit. I found that I loved the dewy look it gave me… I have combination skin, and I feel it did not make my skin oily at all, it rather gave off a wonderful, irresistible dewy look. However, it did not cover up certain blemishes as well as I had hoped it would. So I decided to mix it with a tiny bit of foundation (I use Yardley Stayfast). You really don’t need a lot. All you have to do is dab on a little foundation in the problematic area and apply the BB cream over it. I sometimes just use a little bit more (mixed with BB on my hand first), to touch up areas I’ve missed afterwards. It works like a dream! You get the moisture and glow of the BB cream, with the perfect coverage of the foundation. No compromise.

Just thought I’d share it with you guys! :)

I love Clinique products but not sure about bb creams, could be too oily for my skintone.

I’m in love with the Ponds BB, the Revlon made my face too shiny, Rimmel light was too light for my skin and medium too dark, Clarins was not too bad

  1. DebbieT

I have used the Garnier light one, unfortunately it still seems too dark for my complexion even though I’m not that pale. Wish they came in more variations.
