Is it okay to use a facial cleansing soap bar on your face for cleansing? Experts always advise not to use soap on your face. Is that true (even for soaps especially made for the face)?
Skincare expert Dr Maureen Allem from Skin & Body Renewal responds:
“If your skin is already dry, the use of a soap or foaming cleanser is not necessarily the best idea. There is nothing wrong with a gel cleanser as long as it is not soapy, as this will exacerbate the dryness. You will find that if you do, your skin will become more dry, more sensitive, and you can then become prone to breakouts and pigmentation. So personally, I am not particularly pro the use of soaps or soap bars on the face, neck and chest area.”
