Join the movement with brands who give back

Wednesday, 5 July 2017

It touches our collective hearts when major brands start spreading the love and give back to communities in need. Here are some of the awesome campaigns you can join to give back in the spirit of Mandela Day (18 July) and enrich the lives of others.

Lush Charity Pot

If you’ve already felt the rich, nourishing texture of the Lush Charity Pot, you may already be sold, but learning more about their charity footprint has us feeling even more inspired to head down and buy a pot, or 10.

So what is the Charity Pot? It’s a hand and body lotion that does a lot of good – and not just to your skin. The silky texture is just an added bonus!

We love that 100% of the sale of the lotion (minus the taxes) is donated to grassroots organisations that create awareness and work towards environmental preservation. Charity Pot supports organisations that align with the brand’s ethics in the areas of environmental conservation, animal welfare and human rights. Sounds pretty good to us!

L’Occitane unites for sight

The L’Occitane Foundation runs a campaign in association with the Brien Holden Vision Institute to raise funds to help avoidable blindness and assist with their “Our Children’s Vision” project. The campaign includes eye screening for 70 000 children in South Africa and helping those in need of eye care.

So how do you get involved? Simply by buying a L’Occitane ‘Solidarity Soap’ for R35. The proceeds received from the sales of this nourishing, pure shea butter soap go straight to this worthy cause. Statistically, 285 million people in the world are visually impaired, while, four out of five cases could be avoided. Their goal is to provide eye care to 10 million people by 2020. Head to your nearest store to find out more.

Share a smile with Labello

Labello is caring for lips and smiles across South Africa in a whole new way. One of our favourite brands has partnered with the Smile Foundation to help children like Uyanda (pictured above), who was born with facial abnormalities. Thanks to the Smile Foundation, Uyanda has had three corrective surgeries and ongoing speech therapy over the last six years.

The goal of the Labello Beautiful Smile campaign is to raise R250 000 for the Smile Foundation by the end of September 2017. The funds will be used to support paediatric patient surgeries to give children with facial abnormalities the corrective surgery they need.

Want to get involved? Buy a new limited edition Labello Original Care Beautiful Smile dual-pack for R34,99 and you’ll receive two sticks of their timeless classic, Labello Original Care. Perfect for sharing!

A portion of each sale will then be shared with Smile Foundation to help you share a smile with a child in need. You can also get involved online. Join the hashtag #LabelloSmileChallenge on Facebook and Instagram and a further R1 will go to Smile Foundation.
