Luminous Vitality; Part 1We all want glowing, healthy skin. And we can all have it, but it does take some work. Pollutants, sun and even daily activities take their toll on our skin. Follow our easy steps and soon you’ll be glowing from the inside out.

Fill up on H20

Yes you’ve heard it so many times, but it’s true, drinking enough water help prevent fine lines from appearing. What you may not know is that these lines aren’t necessarily wrinkles – they’re dehydration lines.

Follow a skincare routine – and stick to it religiously

Your skincare routine needs to be specific to what works for you. You may have a three-step routine, while someone else may need to follow five steps. We’ve covered the basic three…
• Cleanse
Begin by investing in a good cleanser – one that suits your skin type and budget. Cleansers clean away dirt and grime and they also help to clear up blemishes, minimise wrinkles and help control oil and pH of the skin. Dermatologists recommend washing your face twice a day, morning and evening. We recommend these fabulous facial washes: Yardley Oatmeal Cleansing Gel, R69,95, Pond’s Age Miracle Daily Regenerating Facial Foam, R84.99, Garnier Oil Control Complete Deep Clean Face Wash R31,95, Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser R79,95.
• Tone
Not many people follow this step because it comes down to what products you are already using, how effective your cleanser is and personal preference. Toning helps remove remaining traces of oil and make-up, and should only be applied with a cotton pad. We recommend these terrific toners: Yardley Oatmeal Purifying Toner, R69.95, Pond’s Age Miracle Regenerate and Refine Cleansing Toner, R84.99, Dermalogica Multi-Active Toner, R415.
• Splurge Alert!
Extra treatments are always effective. You may want to add in an exfoliator, serum or solution before you moisturise. Something like Dermalogica Ultracalming mist, R440, primes the skin and locks in moisture. Sensai Prime Solution, R1630, reawakens skin cells that have become less responsive with age. Your skin will look revitalised.
• Moisturise
We lose moisture during the day, and to keep our skins protected we need to apply a moisturiser everyday. Using two separate day and night creams will add extra benefits – night-time creams repair while you sleep, and day-time creams, well, during the day. We recommend these magic moisturisers for day: Revlon Hydra Boost – Intense Radiance moisturising day cream, R120, Dermalogica skin smoothing cream, R750. These are the magic moisturisers for night: Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream, R680, Johnson’s Face Care Night cream, R49,95.

The saying ‘you are what you eat’ has, unfortunately, been proved to be true. Excessive amounts of junk food will start to show on your skin. Replace fast foods with fruit and vegetables and balanced meals. Super foods like berries contain antioxidants, which add vitality to your skin and create a luminous appearance.

A good night’s sleep will help prevent those black rings and fine lines from appearing under your eyes. If there were more hours in a day we all might be able to get the necessary eight hours of snooze time, but try to remember how important this is for your skin, and make the time.

Such an insightful article! It is very important to keep a good cleansing routine… and to stuck to it every SINGLE day. If your skin starts looking super pretty, you tend to (or at least I do) forget about the face wash and the moisturizer. Do not! Stick to it and your skin will stay fab!

    Awesome tips in this article.

The trick to gorgeous glowing skin is taking care of it, no matter what make time to look after yourself, water helps to flush out toxins and do not forget to exfoliate ideally 2* a week but @ the very least weekly!!!

For sensitive skin or even normal skin please try rosé water as Toner. Can also be filled in a spritzer bottle , chilled and used in the summer.

We all try to drink as much water as needed and get as much sleep as suggested but it doesn’t always happen. There are some products out there to help us out… OFRA Cosmetics has a radiance serum and a beautifying eye mask that do the trick :)
