So, a royal wedding happened this weekend, as you’ll undoubtedly know. Events like these are never without a certain taint of controversy. As some have rightly pointed out, the projected wedding cost for UK tax payers – mostly going to security, with the royals forking the rest of the bill – could undoubtedly have stretched further elsewhere in a country with a heavily over-burdened health system. But there is some good to celebrate.
Meghan Markle’s cultural heritage had a strong influence on a set of proceedings otherwise criticised for being outdated and purposefully exclusive of those who don’t fit a narrow model of respectability. American Bishop Curry epitomised this happy change in his sermon that quoted Martin Luther King Jr and made mention of slavery – this is in presence of a monarchy still in possession of India’s Koh-i-Noor diamond, dating back to a colonial-era conquest. That’s a big move and we’re for it.
But for those not at all interested in the politics surrounding the royal wedding – because we have enough bad news going at the moment, right? – there’s a lot to celebrate. Not least of which being the new Duchess of Sussex’s rumoured bachelorette beauty products finally being on sale in our corner of the world. The bachelorette was reportedly held at the Soho Farmhouse – luxury English retreat in the charming hills of Chipping Norton. We’ve lost count of how many celebs are said to frequent Farmhouse, but a recent favourite was Glossier’s Emily Weiss who could not, would not play it cool when faced with the bath tub below.
Casual. This is where Meghan and her gal pals apparently celebrated the last few weeks of her singledom, and probably made good use of Cowshed, the Farmhouse’s resident beauty line used in all the spa treatments. Cruelty-free and made in England, the mostly-natural line is now available in South Africa through retailer Beautiful Age. The products can also be found in all Melissa’s, but we got an insider tip that said buying online means a very swanky on arrival to your door step. We’re talking ribbon and tissue paper here, people.
We love the candle range, but also can’t resist the bath and body oils. They’ve also got some awesome bathroom staples like their hand care range. If it’s good enough for Meghan, it’s good enough for us!
