Rumour has it that The Body Shop is discontinuing their current bronzing range and replacing it with Honey Bronze, a brand new bronzing collection about to hit the shelves later this month.
The range is called ‘Honey Bronze’ as it owes quite a bit to the humble honey bee as most of the products make use of Community Fair Trade honey and beeswax. Both ingredients are mega-moisturising and help put an end to patchy, streaky colour. The collection consists of ye old pressed bronzing powder, bronzing gel, a ‘brilliance powder which is essentially an illuminating powder packaged in a ‘tube-brush’ plus a Honey Bronze lip nectar and Shimmering dry oil. (The latter is the ‘queen bee’ of the bunch and is currently sold out in the states. It’s light-weight, has a subtle honey scent and leaves skin with a subtle bronze glow that’s dry to the touch).
We got two of the goodies to test; Honey Bronze bronzing gel for the face, R90, and Honey Bronze bronzing powder in Medium Matte (03), R165.
The gel is fabulous in that it creates a sheer veil of believable bronze that’s buildable. (This means that you can intensify your colour if you apply more of it and spread it out less evenly). I wore it on my face over a light moisturiser, but here’s a shot of it on my arm:
Application was all too easy, I simply dotted it on my forehead, cheeks, nose and chin and spread it out using a foundation sponge. I looked healthy and tan, like I’d used a nice, mid-tone self-tan to my face, but didn’t have to stress about the commitment because removal is as simple as washing your face.
The bronzing powder is fab too. Just take a look at the pretty honeycomb pattern that’s been pressed into it:
I like that it doesn’t contain any shimmer, so the bronze hue it imparts is believable. On top of that, despite being ‘medium’, the colour isn’t ridiculously dark and, if it was summer time, I’d definitely be able to pull it off. (As a very fair person, I often battle to find bronzers that don’t look muddy or orange…)
Keep an eye out for the Honey Bronze range in your nearest The Body Shop store as of the middle of this month. It’s just the thing to help you transition from a long, cold winter into spring.
