The latest cutting-edge skincare treatments you need to know about 1

Technology advances at a somewhat alarming rate, but what’s great about that for the skin, is that new skincare treatments mean healthier, stronger and more youthful-looking skin, for longer. Whenever we think about cutting-edge or breakthrough treatments, Skin Renewal comes to mind. They are always at the forefront of new and innovative, non-invasive procedures. These are a few of the latest treatments they have on offer:

MD Codes
MD codes provide professionals with specific guidelines on how to use injectables to achieve a natural look, safely. The system is based on the strategic placement of Botox and HA filler treatments to a combination of different injection sites, achieving direct and indirect effects by giving volume and structure to the face. Every face is unique, which is why a thorough assessment is done based on the skeletal structure, individual face muscle movement and each patient’s desired outcome. The same principle is applied to all patients, but the outcome is slightly different due to individual features. The results can be likened to a non-surgical facelift, without any scars or downtime.

Xela Rederm (Redermalisation)
A real cutting-edge treatment, Redermalisation is the process of injecting a mixture of hyaluronic acid and sodium succinate into the skin. Hyaluronic acid is known for its effective hydrating properties and the ability to slow down the first signs of ageing, while sodium succinate blocks free radicals and has an antioxidant effect and restorative properties.

Redermalisation aims to restore and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin fibres, renewing the skin in the process. Xela Rederm is injected into the skin itself (reaching the deepest layers of the dermis), treating the actual problem, as opposed to some other injectable treatments that target the tissue just beneath the skin, resulting in plumping from below. Some of the results you can expect to see are: rehydration of the skin, an improvement in the appearance of pigmentation, acne scars and stretchmarks, a reduction of wrinkles and an improved skin texture.

A numbing cream is applied before the procedure to limit discomfort. The areas most commonly treated are the face, neck, décolleté and hands.

Fraxel DUAL Laser
This advanced form of laser treatment repairs and restores the skin without surgery or major downtime. It combines two different lasers to offer both a deep and a superficial treatment simultaneously. Fraxel® DUAL laser provides moderate-level treatment for pigmentation, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring and a poor skin texture. It is approved by the FDA and has shown to be more effective and less in invasive than many older laser treatments. The Fraxel® DUAL is so advanced that it penetrates deep into the dermis (the very deep layers of skin) without affecting un-targeted surrounding areas.

It produces thousands of tiny deep channels to the skin, allowing the medical technician/therapist to treat areas of concern without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue. The ideal candidate for this treatment is someone with severe sun damage, acne scars, including PIH (Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation), wrinkles and an uneven skin tone and texture. Most patients describe a sensation of heat during the treatment, and after the treatment the skin may be red and slightly swollen, with a feeling that may be likened to sunburn. This feeling passes after a couple of hours and the mild swelling will dissipate within a day or two. To minimise discomfort, a topical anaesthetic is applied before the treatment takes place and cold air is used on the treatment area during the procedure.
