Johnson summer skin care tips

We all agree – once you have a baby, getting out and about is not as easy as it once was! Whether it’s a quick outing to visit friends or family, a weekend away or your annual holiday at the coast, travelling with baby takes far more planning and baggage.

But don’t let that put you off! Apart from the fact that you need the stimulation of getting out, babies also benefit from experiences out of home, provided they feel secure and comfortable. The trick is to pre-plan and develop a workable system that will help ensure you both enjoy getting out and about.

Babies become niggly when they’re hungry, hot and sticky or in need of a nappy change. Since you don’t want your baby to associate this discomfort with “going out,” make sure you’re well prepared to cater for her needs.

Here are some tips from moms:

  • Take enough food and drink for your baby in case you are delayed or stuck in traffic;
  • Dress baby in easy-on, easy-off clothes and add layers for warmth;
  • Take spare clothes and extra nappies in case of accidents;
  • Accept that road trips will take longer with a baby because you need to build in lots of little breaks, stopping every two to four hours;
  • Take a new toy as well as a couple of favourite ones;
  • Your baby’s skin is vulnerable to sunlight so ensure you can provide shade in the car and at your destination. Don’t forget sunscreen;
  • Keep a look out for travel size products that are easy to pop into a nappy bag and will allow you to maintain your baby’s essential routines with a minimum of fuss.

    Johnson & Johnsons have been around for so many years, you just know you cant go wrong! I travel with all the above products, We stop regularly for nappy changes and a little wipe down. Luckily Amelia is used to travelling so we have little fuss over long trips. The more you fuss over your little ones in a car, the more they do :) We sing songs, play games and sleep! Amelia loves napping in the car :)

    The Johnson’s lavender variations are good for soothing and relaxing baby. Perhaps use these products just before your trip so that baby is calm and falls asleep while travelling.

    My tip to mothers who are travelling is to do what comes naturally to you and works for you and your baby. No two babies are ever the same so to impart advice to anyone on what they should or shouldn’t do is not entirely correct. We can give tips but nothing is a hard and fast rule. Mothers must follow their god given instinct as they were given this privilege to bring a child into this world and raise with utmost supervision, care and love.

    You definitely have to have something to occupy them. All my kids cannot still for very long and it helps for them to have some toys, as well as a clipboard with different writing activities to do and CD’s with songs they can sing along to. The wet wipes are a must, along with plastic bags for all their trash.

    Keep everything strapped in. Attach toys to the carseat and make sure that the dummy/pacifier is also clipped to the baby’s clothes to ensure that it’s readily available to the little one.

    I think the best tip is to plan for the worst and take everything you cannot live without on your trip and also to leave early should you need to be somewhere on time. This makes it flexible for you to travel and attend to your baby’s needs as they arise. No two days with my babies were ever the same so I had to do things on a case by case basis.

    What would we do without our Johnson’s products? The Baby Jelly is so important to use on long trips for those in between nappy changes to keep little bottoms dry and Baby wipes to keep the body cool

    Come armed with your child’s favorite low-mess snacks.I find The pureed foods sold in a tube are great for travel – older babies and toddler can suck them right out of the tube, saving you the trouble of messing with a spoon.

    This works for me…..Make sure your baby isn’t too hot or too cold. If she’s in her car seat for ages she may get quite sweaty. Allow extra travelling time so you can stop and take a break every couple of hours. Even if just for a few minutes for a nappy change, she’ll like to stretch and kick her legs….also keep baby in minium of clothes, vest and diaper wrks best…As soon as you arrive (unless someone in the family is overly cranky or tired), set up your room to make it as close to home as possible. Put the baby in the playpen or hotel crib with a pile of toys and occupy an older kid with a coloring book. Or have your partner take the older sibling out to get the lay of the land while you unpack. Settling in will help you remain organized (and sane) throughout your stay.

    # tip for traveling 1:nTake a new toy as well as a couple of favourite ones. If you wrap it up too they’ll have the fun of unwrapping it

    #tip 2: take a small blanket and take regular breaks maybe at a park and then put the blanket on the floor so the little one can strch by rolling or walking on the blanket. fresh air could also do all good.

    Ever since my brother became a single dad to 2 beautiful girls, I have become more than a protective aunt. In fact, I feel as if I am a mom again considering that the youngest is only 13 months! with the upcoming Festive season, it’s imperative to know how to travel safely with babies. If travelling by car ensure that the baby is strapped the car seat. Try to put hanging toys on the car seat to keep the baby entertained. Try to feed the baby before the journey to avoid any distraction & try to play neutral music instead of rock & roll! If you are travelling by plane, try to get ear drops and and woollen ear muffs as well as an extra blanket to keep the baby warm. Ask the friendly ir hostesses to assist, in fact Emirates has a new offering called “Air Nanny” which believe me, makes all the difference in the world! Ensure you have a pacifier( for the sanctity of other travellers & your peace of mind as well), some Lavender drops, baby food & teething medication packed in your bag just in case! Travelling with a baby can be fun & a learning curve not forgetting the attention that you will get or even a room upgrade perhaps? Don’t forget the lightweight stroller! Ok, now I am really sounding like a mum…

    I make sure that when I travel long distance, I have a travel companion. That way we each take turns baby sitting and attending to the needs of the baby. Of course when baby nods off then that is an opportune moment to also catch up on some well needed rest too.

    Super excited about the new mom section. I am in love with all things Johnsons too! When travelling with baby and kids, I ensure that baby is dressed comfortable – nothing worse than travelling long distance on a hot summers day and a cranky baby. I pack stimulating games ‘specially for the car and make use of arty travelling kits for the older kids. For baby, I make sure his car seat has a few toys to keep him occupied, that there are always wipes to cool him down, I also like to pack healthy snacks that keep him occupied, chewing for a while. Lastly, and I believe one hundred percent in having some sort of kiddies music in the car. This not only turns into a fun family activity of singing along, but it makes the trip seem faster too!!

    I have two nappy bags, i keep one fully stocked as a backup, you must always make sure you have baby diapers, wet wipes, formula, bottle, flask and a nappy bag for those stinky dirty diapers.i think after having a child for 2 years, you tend to memorize everything you need. just a quick look in the nappy bag and i know im good to go. anything else that you need,if you forget anything, you can always buy it, as you will always use it or need it.

    When travelling with a baby its always good to make sure you have a thermos flask for making bottles if you don’t breastfeed.Make sure to keep baby happy and cool if you are going to be travelling far by car and make stops not just for you , baby needs a break too!

    To make a trip with little ones much more bearable I make sure I have stashed in my car seat next to me, a handy travel bag already packed with drinks, snacks, clothes and diapers as well as cleansing wipes for any emergency. To keep baby calm during the ride I will play soothing music and keep lots of flashy noisy toys hanging above the car seat for instant entertainment. Baby tends to keep happy for a while until the ride puts baby to sleep. I also tend to take frequent breaks to attend to the needs of baby just in case.

    I am far from a baby, but I love using Johnson’s products. They are mild but effective and have a mild non-irritating fragrance.
