The other day I was lucky enough to be invited to experience a SIX facial at Yemaya Spa & Hair in Mouille Point. If you haven’t popped in to take a look, you should check it out, the place is seriously lush-looking. Check it out:
I’d never heard of a SIX facial before, or SIX products for that matter, but as it turns out it’s quite a new brand. My lovely, super-knowledgeable therapist, Mariette, told me that its been designed to pamper, but still give great results. Also, as its manufactured locally, its not going to break the bank. To give you an example, their delish-smelling, apricot and shea butter-enriched Moisture Boost Mask is only R220. Mariette says it’s like eight glasses of water for your face and you can even sleep in it as its fully absorbed by your skin…
Anyway, Yemaya’s treatment menu places a SIX Sensational skin treatment within the facial category, but really, it’s so much more than that. The treatment is 90 minutes long and involves a hot oil back massage, revitalising facial and hand treatment!
To begin, Mariette gave me a blissful massage that involved all my senses; ‘music sticks’ that looked like tiny ‘rain makers’ where used to get some of the stiffer knots out of my shoulders while aromatic herbal ‘dumplings’ where used to create an ‘elephant walk’ down my back. (This sounds totally bizarre, but it feels awesome…)
When it came to facial time, I got treated to a seriously long list of goodies (think double cleanse, exfoliation, mask and more!) that were all applied with a divine facial massage technique that almost put me to sleep. My hands got a little attention to in that they also got treated with antioxidant-rich SIX Brightening Enzyme Peel, followed by a hand massage using SIX Heavenly Massage Balm. When it was over, they were slipped into a pair of ‘hot gloves’ to help the mega-moisturising balm sink into my mitts.
Afterwards, if I’d had more time, I’d have been able to take advantage of Yemaya’s steam room or jacuzzi, but had to drag myself away to go home and write. Sigh… In all, this was one of the best value pampering packages I’ve experienced in a while. At just R520, its an affordable indulgence – or a gift that’s sure to be appreciated and remembered.
Thanks Yemaya, this was truly sense-sational…
