What we say:
The fragrance is packed in a pretty pink box with a window on the front (to see the heart shaped bottle inside) and a black printed ribbon bow. When I opened the two sides, the front and back panels fell away, and I could immediately get the scent. Bebe sheer comes in a pretty heart shaped bottle with a shiny border and see-through inner, with pink rhinestones around the top, and a silver chain with the Bebe label and a silver heart. Both the chain and the heart detachable with clasps similar to that on a necklace and I have since put it on my handbag. When I first applied it, I found it was quite ‘alocoholy’, and I had to wait for that to evaporate! It envelops my senses, but it’s airy at the same time. When I close my eyes and smell this, to me it’s that feather that’s just out of reach… each time I get close enough to touch it, the wind playfully blows it another foot away. It is a very joyful and flirty fragrance. I pick up floral notes of jasmine and something that I just can’t put my finger on… something citrusy, with amber playing a vital role. Overall this is a genuine feminine fragrance that is sultry and sensuous without being loud and over the top. If I had to describe it as a woman, Bebe Sheer would be an innocent, flirtatious, beautiful and playful young woman! The scent lasted about three hours before I had to give it a refresher and I wish it had lasted longer. The scent did last a lot longer when I spritzed it into my hair as opposed to the spritz I put on my skin. The alcohol smell when you first apply it is a tad off putting for me personally. This is a great gift!
My initial impression was that it was well packaged. The box is sturdy with a circular cutout on the front, through which you can see the bottle. The way the box opens reminds me of a flowering bud. All four sides open outwards to reveal the 50ml bottle nestled on top of a pink pedestal. It is all rather regal and quite exciting to open. The glass bottle is heart-shaped, and pink. Around the nozzle is a key chain with a silver ‘B’ charm and a heart with ‘bebe’ inscribed on it. The scent is citrus based with a lingering warm ‘cinnamony’ fragrance. I love the smell. It reminds me of sophisticated suits, chignons and board meetings. It is a lovely fragrance but my main issue is that once I sprayed in on, it disappeared. It is so subtle that I battled even to detect that I was wearing it without literally sniffing my wrists. Be that as it may, I still wear it and will continue to do so. It is fun, flirty, seductive and femme- fatale all wrapped up with a black bow.
When I heard I was receiving a fragrance to try out, I must say I grew excited to see, smell and test it. I’m a perfume fanatic and love trying out different scents. That said, here is what I thought of Bebe Sheer. Upon opening the package, I was amazed at the thought that went into this process. The box opens sideways, like opening a hand fan. The box folds open, which leaves more room for anticipation. The fragrance is beautifully packaged and the “pretty in pink” bottle is in the shape of a heart with a diamante encrusted top and a dangling charm hanging from the top. Needless to say I was very impressed with the design and style. It has a light, distinctive citrus smell at first, which builds into a more intense “lemon burst”. I would say, this is the perfect perfume for teenagers to try out. Not for those in their 20’s. The smell does not linger and fades after minutes. I would not recommend this fragrance to those who love wearing floral, fruity, oceanic, oriental, woody type perfumes. It’s a smell that younger women would be drawn to, nothing intense and breath-taking that would make men turn their heads. So in my opinion, I’ll give this one a miss. 10/10 for the beautiful bottle but I am not impressed with the scent itself.
